Happy Birthday, Grandma (Pam) :)

Today we wish a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Grandma. Grandma and Bumpah went out of town for the weekend starting today, so we celebrated Grandma's birthday last night at dinner. We didn't do anything that special. We just ordered some Thai food and I made a cake. It was chocolate by request. Caden was a big help as a taster of course:

Pure determination :)
Notice the great technique he has learned from the best.
Here is Grandma with the kiddos who were too eager to help eat the cake:

Workout Update

Happy Friday!!!

I am pretty happy with my week of working out so far. I felt great throughout. I still need to work on the weight training (I can tell this is probably going to continue being an issue...), but I am still pleased with what I was able to accomplish.
Here was my week:
Saturday: Spinning
Sunday: 8 miles on the treadmill
Monday: Rest
Tuesday: 5 miles on the treadmill
Wednesday: Spinning
Thursday: Rest (I was doing a lot of things around the house, so I don't really think I sat down until I went to bed. That kinda counts as a workout, right?)
Friday: I am planning to run 5 miles tonight. We are also meeting with Missy to practice our dance routine. Since we are having our family dinner tonight, we will have to wait and see how much I get accomplished!

Have a nice day!

Red boots have been found!

The best part of today was that I FINALLY have red boots to wear for our "Cotton Eyed Joe" dance. Whew! That took a long time to find them. I was lucky enough to have the costume person who works with the students at the high school. She remembered having some red boots of her own that she thought may work. YAY! I really did not want to have to spend the money on "real" boots since I don't see myself wearing bright red boots very often. I will have to take a pic of them to show. They are not in pristine condition or anything, but from the audience, who will care?

This week has been a pretty good workout week so far. Tonight I had Spinning class, but I didn't go as far as a normally do. The 5 mile run from yesterday is still kicking my butt a little :)

Have a nice night!

One more day of fun with Andrew!

First, I'd like to say Happy Birthday to my Aunt Theresa Berry! We can't wait to see you next week!

Caden was very happy today, because Aunt Cara decided to stay one more day so that Caden and Andrew would have another full day to play. They boys took advantage of every minute. This is the pic that Grandma took of them from the day:
Caden is still into making funny faces :)
Both kids were exhausted tonight! That is always a good thing :)

I will leave you with a couple of pics I forgot to post from last night. Here is one with the boys playing doctor:
Caden is the patient and Andrew is the doctor.
Lilli had to get in on the action, too. I guess she is the nurse prepping the medication :)

Andrew is here!

Caden LOVES playing with Andrew. There is not much more exciting than finding out he gets to play with him. Since Cara is on Spring Break this week, she and Andrew came to Oshkosh today until Tuesday afternoon for a visit. Since we wanted the boys to have as much time as possible together to play, Ryan and I took the kids back to Grandma and Bumpah's for dinner. The boys had a great time. Here is one pic that Ryan took:

They are wearing one of Caden's shoes as a "belt."
Lilli had fun, too! We wish Andrew lived closer so the kiddos could play all of the time :)

8 miles down!!!

Today was the end to a wonderful weekend. It was SO nice not having much to do. We got to spend a lot of time together as a family. It was a pretty full day today.

We started off the day by going to church. The kids were well-behaved in the nursery. Lilli still doesn't like being away from us, but she stopped crying pretty quickly. After church Nicole and I got our 8 mile run in. We did great! The weather was beautiful, and the run wasn't that bad at all.

After showering and waiting for Lilli to wake up, Ryan and I took the kids over to Oaklawn Elementary to support their efforts for the April 3rd referendum. Ryan saw many of his teachers from when he was in school. He showed us around the building and pointed out the different classrooms he was in as a child. I think Caden thought that was cool. They also had cookies and punch, so Caden was a happy camper. Here are some pictures of him "driving" the race car they had outside of the school:

We should have made him buckle up :)
I think he found it entertaining that the steering wheel came off.
We then needed to run to Target for a few things, and we were pleased to find that the grocery section opened today. We were able to get the things we needed, plus all of the groceries for the week. We tried to shop as quickly as we could, because we still had other things we wanted to do.

Our next stop was the YMCA to get in some swimming. The kids had a great time. The water was a little chilly, so Lilli's jaw was pretty much chattering the entire time. She still had fun.

We didn't have time to play on the climbing area slide part before we swam. I thought Caden didn't remember this, but he did. On the way to Grandma and Bumpah's he realized the we didn't play there. He looked at me in my rear view mirror and said, "Mama, I'm really 'inappointed.'" I tried not to laugh, because I couldn't get over how cute it was. I asked him where he learned that word. He told me, "I taught myself." I promised him that we could go next time.

Dinner as great, and then we headed home. Lilli fell asleep in the car on the way home, so it was a pretty quiet night. Overall, it was a very good day.

Spinning, Appleton, Aunt Lexie

I was really excited when Ryan agreed to go to Spinning this morning with me. We decided we would go to the 9 am class instead of the 7:30 since we needed to have enough time to feed the kids and get them ready. The instructor this morning was pretty brutal. We did hills almost the entire time. That was a rough class to be Ryan's first, but he did awesome. So did Lilli. I was a little concerned with her in the child care area. Not because I didn't think they would do a good job, but because I didn't want her to cry the entire time. She stopped crying pretty quickly the woman told us.

After Spinning we took the kids to the Family Prime Time area of the Y where they have a climbing thing with a big slide. Caden really liked playing on that. I went inside of it as well so that Lilli could get in there. She thought she was big stuff since she was in with the bigger kids. Caden wanted to go swimming, too, so we told him we would head back to the Y tomorrow to swim.

Once Ryan and I were showered and ready, we headed to Appleton to run some errands. We did some shopping at the mall and also ate lunch there. Both kids were really well behaved. It was a good time. One the highlights of the trip to the "wrong Target," as Caden calls it (It is not the Target in Oshkosh), as getting to ride the wildly lame (my opinion) and overpriced rides in the mall right outside of Target. Here he is:
Here he is flying the airplane. The pic isn't the greatest quality.
He is disappointed the ride stopped.
He also drove a truck. I kept telling him the bunny in the car behind him was going to get him.
He LOVED it. I guess it makes the rides worth the $.75 a pop.

I have to tell you something Caden said in the car today. He likes singing the "Bob the Builder" theme song, but he thinks it is funny to sing it like, "Bob the Builder. Can we fix it? No, we can't." The real words are to end it with, "Yes, we can." He was singing this in the car (which Lilli also likes to sing as Bob the B... very cute), and he said, "Bob the Builder. Can we fix it?..." Then he just paused and said, "Anyone?" Ryan and I started laughing. Ryan said he was like a stand up comedian or something getting the audience involved. Ryan ended up singing the rest of the song for him.

Aunt Lexie ended up coming over for dinner. Caden told us that we could leave when we told him she was coming over. :) I guess he likes it when Aunt Lexie watches them. We informed him we would not be leaving. After the kiddos went to bed we decided to hot tub it for a little bit. Overall...a very nice day!

I will leave you with a picture of Lilli from last Sunday when we went to Target. We decided we would let the kids have a cake pop along with their milk. Lilli was a big fan:

She loves sugar just like her Mama :)

Workout Update

I am sticking with it. That is what I keep telling myself. That is what is important. I need to stop beating myself up if my workout isn't as great as I think it should be. The important part is that I am working out and not just plopping down on the couch to watch TV. (There are many nights when that is almost too tempting.) Here was my week:
Saturday: Ran 7 miles (I tried to go to the 7:30 spinning class, but the instructor didn't show up :( Since it was such a busy weekend, I decided to get in my long run on Saturday instead of Sunday.)
Sunday: Rest because of yesterday
Monday: Rest (Normal rest day. I probably didn't really need to rest, but I LOVED it)
Tuesday: Ran 1 mile (I was supposed to run 4.5, but that just didn't happen. I did 1 mile thinking I would squeeze in the other 3.5 after dinner. Nope)
Wednesday: Spinning
Thursday: 30 minutes on the elliptical
Friday: Ran 2 miles (Again, kinda was a slacker on my shorter weekly runs. I didn't start this run until around 9 pm, and I am just not a great night runner.) I also did some ab work and lifted free weights.

Again, the important thing is that I worked out. I gotta keep looking on the bright side :) I also reached one of my weight goals, so I am planning to reward myself with Spinning shoes. Yay!

I'm not sleepy...

If Lilli could have said this tonight, she would have: "I'm not sleepy." She did NOT want to go to bed. Ryan finally decided to just bring her back downstairs since she was laughing and singing. When she was finally starting to look sleepy, I took her back upstairs. She ended up falling asleep on my lap. I LOVE when that happens. I had to snap a few pics with my phone. The pics aren't the greatest quality since it was so dark, and my hand wasn't too steady.

Notice her arm up above her head.
I LOVE the snuggles.
And I just think it is hilarious when I look and her little feet are crossed at the ankles :)

What's for dinner?

Given the choice, what would you choose for dinner? Tonight, this is what Caden chose:

Caden always looks so serious in his pics now.
Diggin' in for some more beans.
He wanted: pancakes (with a little Reddi Whip), cheese, milk, and green beans. Notice he likes the green beans to be in their own bowl. He and Lilli raced to so who could eat their beans first. Caden won :)

Taking a Break on the Swing

Just a quick update with a pic. My brother sent this picture to me from Andrew's party. Lilli and I were chilling on the swing while the big kids were hitting the pinata. Not the most flattering pic of me, but I LOVE how Lilli is sitting. Her little legs are crossed :)

NEW Zoo and clean house

Caden and Lilli were super lucky today, because Grandma and Bumpah took them to the NEW (North East Wisconsin) Zoo. They also got to spend some quality time with their cousin Adin. Grandma sent me this pic on my phone:

It looks like it was a little difficult to get all kiddos to look at the same time. Kinda like trying to put squirrels in a bucket.

Since today was another G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S. day, it was perfect zoo weather. I was extremely jealous. They all had a great time.

It was a Grandma Monday, so that means Dada picks up the kids. I usually run around and get errands done. I was pretty successful today. I got a new cable/DVR box from Time Warner since ours hasn't been working for a few weeks. We could watch cable, but the recording capability stopped for some reason. We also could not pause, rewind...very frustrating. I called to make an appointment to get the work on the Pacifica done (some arm thing, something with the computer, and we need new tires... sad trombone...), I stopped at Target to pick up Grammie's birthday present since her birthday is Thursday, checked Goodwill for red cowboy boots (no luck), and stopped at Pick N Save to grab some salmon for tonight. I made dinner, including a yummy corn salad to put on the salmon, and then started the dreaded housework. Jules who usually cleans for us is gone for the next two weeks, so I am really realizing how much we LOVE her. I will say the house looks pretty good now. The cleaning even involved me scrubbing the kitchen floor on my hands and knees. The dishwasher is running, as are the washer and dryer, as I type. I was also able to make a quick birthday card for Grammie before packing up the box to be mailed tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it gets there by Thursday!

So, I am one tired girl!

Beautiful Sunday

Today was just as beautiful weather wise as yesterday. I REALLY hope the snow will now stay away for good.

It was a busy day since we had Stephanie Meyer's bridal shower today. The shower was wonderful. Great food and great company.

The kiddos got some nice time with Dada while I was at the shower. Here is the video Ryan sent to me from one of the parks that is within walking distance from our house:

Caden is saying "cheese pickle" because he thinks Ryan is taking a picture. So silly :)

Happy Birthday, Andrew!!!

Today is my nephew Andrew's 3rd birthday. So, of course, the highlight of the day was the little guy's birthday party. It was a pirate theme complete with eye patches and a pirate ship cake. Here are a couple of pics:

Pirate Lilli!

Sad Pirate Andrew :( I'm not sure what happened to upset the little guy
Andrew showing off his counting skills. He is next to the cake that Cara slaved over. It turned out great.
We are always so busy and don't think to take more. I am sure I can get some good ones from Cara to put up later.

Another great thing about today was the weather. It was almost 80 degrees! And it is March Wisconsin... I am fully anticipating a snow storm next week or something. This is just too good to be true.

After the party I ran home. Really, I ran home. Well Ryan dropped me off about a mile from Pam and Dick's house. I needed to get a 7 mile run in this weekend, and since it is such a busy weekend I figured I may as well get it done today instead of tomorrow. Overall it went very well. I hate to say it, but I was really hot...maybe even too hot. Not that I'm complaining :) I definitely felt a sense of accomplishment when I got home. I had a couple of miles in the middle of the run that were pretty rough because my side started to hurt. Other than that, it was great.

After Ryan got back home tonight around 7:45 pm from taking care of some work things, I needed to head to the grocery store to get the supplies to make my Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil salad and also Tabbouleh. Tomorrow is Stephanie Meyer's bridal shower. (Do you see why our weekend is so busy?) Ryan and I decided that he would drive me and bring the kids since they would both fall asleep in the car. While Ryan was getting Lilli in the car he told Caden to wait for him in the house since he wasn't wearing shoes. Caden did not want to wait, but he also didn't want to get his feet dirty. This was his solution:

He thinks it is funny to make faces at the camera now.
Yes, those are my winter boots. They are very warm.

Our plan of both kids falling asleep was a big fail. They both were still wide awake when we got home. No big deal. Once they were in bed I tackled cleaning our bedroom since I've been neglecting that. I still don't know how my closet can go from organized to complete chaos in a matter of minutes... I did some laundry, made both salads (with Ryan's help~He cut all of the veggies for me), did the dishes, and then updated the blog (sorry for the delays). Now I am ready for bed!!!

Workout Update

This week was a weird week because Mom and Bill came to visit. My workouts were not normal, but overall I think I did pretty well staying on track. In the past, I would have just said, "I missed a couple workouts, I may as well not work out for the rest of the week." Not this time. I got right back on the horse...or bike I guess it would be :) Here was my week:

Saturday: Spinning and Shamrock Shuffle 5K (I was a busy girl today)
Sunday: Rest because of yesterday
Monday: Rest (Normal rest day, but I felt like a complete slacker.)
Tuesday: Unfortunately, this turned into a rest day as well. Ryan and I did practice our dance routine a couple of times, so that has to count for something :)
Wednesday: Spinning (I went to the 5:30 pm class instead of the 7 pm so Ryan and I could go on a date :) Thank you, Alexis!!!)
Thursday: 45 minutes on the elliptical
Friday: Ran 2.25 miles

Not the best week, but it could have been A LOT worse!

Pics from Oma and Papa's visit

I would have had these pics up a lot sooner if the battery in the camera didn't die. Shockingly, we used the real camera while Mom and Bill were visiting. I am so used to just using our phones that I almost forgot where we keep the camera :) I need to get more from my Mom, since she took most of the pics. There are quite a few that aren't good enough to put up because the flash obviously didn't go off. I did find two pretty cute ones.

Here are the promised pics:

Caden looks like he is up to something in this pic :)
Minka LOVED Oma.
We look forward to their next visit :)

Mickey Cake

I have quite a few photos to go through and get from my Mom still, so for tonight I will update you with a pic of a cake that I made Monday night and decorated Tuesday AM. I thought since I brought back the Buzz Lightyear cake, I should also redo the Mickey cake. This time I let Caden choose the colors. He decided that he wanted a Martian Mickey. So Mickey's ears were green and his eyes were orange. This is how he turned out:
He can also be considered St. Patty's Day Mickey :)
As you can see from this pic:
Caden was telling us that he wants to eat the eyes first.
Caden was pretty pleased. :)
I will update tomorrow with more pics and details from Mom and Bill's visit.

Family Time

Sorry my updates have falling a little behind. With my mom and Bil visiting, we have been super busy. I am really looking forward to having my personal day on Tuesday to spend some time with them. Caden and Lilli were with them today while I was at work. They all did very well, and Lilli didn't even cry! I will need to get some pics from my mom since she took many pictures :) I will try to update with more tomorrow. I do have a couple that she sent to me.

Do you see the resemblance?
Caden saw us taking the last picture and said he wanted to be in it. He is saying "cheese." :)
Caden woke up this morning with a cold, so that wasn't the greatest timing. I am just hoping he gets it out of his system so he is better for Andrew's birthday party on Sunday. I am also hoping that he is better for music class tomorrow. I would like to take my mom with me to see the kids. I am also looking forward to going to the class since I have never been able to go with both of the kids.
