{My new classroom}

As I mentioned yesterday, I am at a new school this year. My room number is 1230. At first it was really weird being in a new classroom, but I was able to adapt pretty quickly. Little touches here and there made it feel like home. The absolute best part about my new room is that I have natural light! Yay! I really have missed having windows to the outside. It really does make a difference to be able to see the light of day throughout the work day. I still would like to add a few things here and there, but here are some pics of my classroom:
Here is the view from the hallway:
Those shelves are now filled up a bit, but you get the idea. I bought some pretty wrapping paper for the bulletin boards:
If you look to the back, that is a large room divider. They use my room and the neighboring room at times for a large space for testing or larger summer classes. That divider is not sound proof:
The other corner of the front. And, yes, that's a real plant soaking up those rays of sunshine!
Since this pic I have added another pic of Edgar Allan Poe to the shelf:
 My desk:
Those are white boards in the back of the room on the divider:
Looking from the window side to the inside hall side:
Of course I need to have pics:
And check out my name! Sweet :)
It sure feels like home now :)

Take care,

{I'm back...and planning a road trip!}

Hello! Hello! After a long and much needed break, I am back. I have so much that has happened since I last blogged. The largest thing that has changed is probably my school. I no longer teach at Ripon High School. After 10 years there, I decided it was a good time for a new challenge. I now teach at Fond du Lac High School:
Pretty, isn't it?
My commute time is the same, and I am happy to report that my carpool status is the same as well. My bestie Pat also switched to Fondy, so we are still able to carpool most days.

What else is happening in our lives? Caden is now in 2nd grade, and Lilli is in first grade. She has the same teacher Caden had last year. Both kids are really enjoying school. Here are a couple of cute recent pics:
Caden rockin' some serious bed head:
Lilli after she lost her 6th tooth:
We are as busy as ever, but I have been doing a much better job of finding time for myself. This includes a much higher level of physical activity. Since I last blogged, I have been running quite a bit. Here are some of the running highlights:
2016 Shamrock Shuffle
Mother's Day Run
Florida vacy (still found the time to workout!)
Bellin's Women's Half Marathon Relay 2016
 Scrapping weekend (still worked out)
I have much to update you about, but I am not going to stress myself too much over that. I am going to start with today. We are currently getting ready to make the drive to Ohio to visit the family for Thanksgiving this week. I luckily do not have school on Wednesday, so Ryan and I will pick the kids up from school on Wednesday and hit the road from there. I am planning to work on some packing tonight for the trip. Aunt Lexie will be staying with and spoiling Minka...as usual :)  We are so lucky to have her.

We plan to leave to come back on Saturday after dinner, so I am putting together some things for the kids to do in the car. Yes, they can watch movies, but I want them to have some other things to do. Here is what I have so far...

We will bring our license plate board with us. The kids can them flip over the plate for each state once we see them on the road:
Caden loves Mad Libs, so I found these Star Wars Mad Libs on Pinterest:
They will also have their car bags that Grandma (Pam) always makes for them. The other must have supplies are snuggly blankets, a stuffed animal, and a small travel pillow. Am I forgetting anything?

Talk soon!

{Happy Belated Easter: Spring Break recap}

I had a wonderful spring break last week, and I thought I would share a little of what we did. The kids did not have break (they have it this week), but Ryan and I were able to spend a lot of time both getting things done and also spending extra time with the kids when they got home from school. It was so nice to be able to drop off and pick up the kids from school:
I also decided to do some mama pampering, so I met up with my friend Leah for a manicure and a pedicure. Now I have lovely lilac nails :) We went out to lunch (Ryan joined us), and then after we picked up the kids from school, we took them to county park to do some geocaching. Here are some pics:
I think Daddy had just as much fun as the kids did:

Lilli was pretty excited to hold the geocache:
This is Ryan's favorite that he posted on Facebook:
Notice the text with it?
That night we also all worked on Lilli's homework. Here is what the assignment was:
Caden got in on the action as well:
I don't remember exactly what happened before I took this pic, but Ryan's expression is hilarious.
They had a great time :) There were quite a few marshmallows eaten in the process of construction.

Tuesday after school we surprised the kids and took them to the movie theater to see Zootopia. It was great! The kids loved it. Well, Caden was the one who saw the entire movie; Lilli was asleep for the last half hour:

It was really hard to get a decent pic:
Wednesday I worked on Easter baskets while the kids were at school. They love fishing at Grandma and Grandpa's house in the summer, so we decided on tackle boxes this year instead of baskets. I tried to fill them with "fishing themed" things.
Swedish fish candies:

Some gummy worms:

I also had to throw in some more traditional candy as well. These eggs from Costco were so beautiful:

Here is how the box looked filled:

I did end up adding just a few more things to the top.

When the kids got home from school, they were excited because our snow storm had arrived. We made Rice Krispy Treat eggs. They turned out to be super cute:
Thursday the kids had a snow day, so they were able to enjoy sleeping in. After we went to a couple of appointments we had (which we made before we knew there would be a snow day for the kids), the kids and I did some arts and crafts while Daddy worked on some work. I worked on a project for the Master Bedroom. I have been trying to figure out what to put on the wall behind our bed, and I was able to finally get it done. I like it:
Those are mirrors above our nightside tables. There are still some more things to figure out, but I love it so far.

We also hosted Easter at our house on Sunday, so we worked to make sure the house was in order for that. Check out how cute our fireplace looks:
See the bunnies below the mantel?
Easter Day itself was wonderful. We started it off at church, where we had a wonderful service. Then we headed home to finish up the food and set up. Everyone arrived at noon, and the kids had a GREAT time. Here are some pics:
Yes, my kids are goofballs...
Here are all of the kids before the Easter Egg hunt:
At least we can see all of their faces :)
Here they are in the middle of the hunt:
I also got some extra time with little Guin:
I hope everyone else had a great holiday as well.

I have some other things that I was able to accomplish during the week, and I will share those with you later this week :)

Until later!
