Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween! Today was ghoulishly fun. We decided not to take Caden trick-or-treating since he already went twice, and he didn't need the candy he already had. But that doesn't mean that he didn't have a fun day. Here is Caden when he wanted to hold "baby":

After he woke up from his nap we carved pumpkins. Daddy was very fancy this year with a very intricate Mickey and Pooh. We also did a special pumpkin with Caden's name and one with Lilli's name.

Since we didn't go trick-or-treating, we thought Caden would have fun passing out candy. He did a great job:

We thought it would be more fun if Caden were dressed up as he passed out the candy.

Eventually he decided he liked to eat the candy, too!

Lilli was Mommy's Little Pumpkin:

We tried to get a nice family shot, but that of course did not go perfectly:

I still want to get a nice picture of Caden and Lilli in their costumes. Caden wasn't in the mood for that tonight, so I plan to shoot a few more pictures tomorrow night. Who cares if it isn't still Halloween?

Teacher's Convention and trick-or-treating

We have had a busy last couple days. Yesterday Caden, Lilli, and I went with Grandma, Aunt Linda, and cousin Adin to Madison to go to Teacher's Convention. We met up with Aunt Cara and cousin Andrew. We didn't know how well the kiddos would do riding in strollers while we went to the exhibit hall, but they were great. I don't think we had one meltdown. That is pretty incredible considering we had four little ones with us. Here are some pics from the exhibit hall:

Caden pretty much ate his way through the exhibit hall. Here he is with popcorn and also ice cream from McDonald's.

Our stroller parade stopping for a photo op

We even went to Cosco for quite a bit. Again, the kids were great. Caden and Andrew even rode in the same cart! They were buddies. It was too cute:

All in all we had a great day.

Lilli was tuckered out

Today was all about the candy. Aunt Alexis invited Caden and Lilli to go trick-or-treating at Park View. We headed over there to trick-or-treat from 2 to 3. We met up with Aunt Linda and cousin Adin. There were so many people there! It was great for the kids. Caden really got the hang of lifting up his bucket for the residents to put the candy in.

When we got home from dinner tonight I took out some Playdoh for Caden. He has never played with it before. He liked it a lot. Every time he pushed it through the extruder her smiled. It was really cute. I am sure we are going to be having a lot of fun.

I will leave you with a pic of Caden after he swiped a bag of marshmallows at Grandma and Bumpah's house. He was pleased with his find.

I love my kids

In one month I will be going back to work. That makes me both sad and happy at the same time. More sad to tell the truth. I do miss my colleagues, who many are much more than just colleagues but great friends; however, I will so miss not spending as much time with my kids. I really envy moms who are able to stay at home. Believe me, I KNOW that staying at home is much harder than going to work every day. Yes, I did say that the way I wanted. Staying at home is more than a full time job. At work I am able to go to the bathroom whenever I need it. At home? Not quite. On more than one occasion I have waited until Caden was napping before I used it. But no matter how bad the day can be, maybe Caden has a meltdown because he can't have juice, or Lilli won't sleep because she had shots...I still wouldn't change anything. At the end of the day I am exhausted, both physically and mentally. But I LOVE the feeling I get when out of nowhere Caden grabs a book and says "Mama hold" and puts his arms up to me. Or Lilli smiles at me with her goofy little grin. I get sad thinking about how many fewer instances I will have of that once I go back to school... Who wouldn't want to spend time with these two cuties every day?

Maybe it is time to think about a possible job share at work? Hmmm....

windy day, bath time, where is Caden?

It was SO windy today! I was planning to run some errands with Lilli (Caden was with Grandma), but I decided nothing was important enough to go out in the wind. We ended up staying home and doing laundry almost all day.

Ryan had a meeting tonight, and it was bath time for both kiddos. I attempted and successfully was able to bathe both kids. At separate times of course. Lilli waited patiently in her crib while Caden got his bath. She didn't even make a peep. Then we came downstairs and Caden played in his kitchen while I gave Lilli a bath in her tub in our kitchen. Here she is:

After Lilli's bath was done Caden was being a goofball. Can you find him in the picture?

Look at those cute feet.

He is such a big help with Lilli:

On a sad note, Sassy's sister Tia unexpectedly passed away today. We are all very sad about this. She was a great dog who will be greatly missed. Please keep my mom and Bill in your thoughts and prayers as they get through this very hard time.

Happy Birthday, Caden!!!

I can't believe Caden is already two years old! The first two have been great, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for our little guy.

He started his birthday morning with breakfast of his choice: pancakes. And not only any run of the mill pancakes...Mickey Mouse and friends pancakes. Yum!

I think he enjoys the syrup more than the pancakes themselves!

After breakfast we had a morning of playing with his kitchen. Mommy even popped some popcorn for him so he could put it in his microwave and pretend to pop it. He thought that was pretty cool. Speaking of his kitchen, I don't know if I mentioned this before, but there was a knob missing from the box. We also received an extra holder for another phone. I called Step 2 today and they were awesome. They were very apologetic and said they would get the knob out to be today and we should have it within about 5 days. She also said that since we had the extra holder for the phone they would send me an extra phone. Now anyone who knows Caden knows that an extra phone is a HUGE bonus. He will be in heaven. The woman said that then if he had a friend over they could talk. Isn't that nice?

Grandma came over to see Caden and give him a present to open for his birthday. He got the rest of his haul yesterday at his party. It was a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse book:

He really loves books now.

He then took a quick break to listen to some music with his new CD player:

Grandma then took Caden, picked up Bumpah, and went to lunch with little guy. He was a king on his birthday...or would he be a prince?

Lilli and I hung out at the house while Caden was out and we had a dance party. Here she is showing off her moves.

She starting "talking" today. Her coos had more substance to them. She will be reciting Shakespeare any day now.

When Caden got home we bowled for awhile. I bought him a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse bowling set. He has fun knocking down the pins.

Dinner was West End Pizza. I LOVE their pizza, but that isn't the reason we went there. The small arcade is the reason. I know I mentioned this before, but if you want to entertain your toddler for hours, given him a dime and an arcade game. He would put the dime into the machine and pretend to play the game. When he got board he grabbed the dime out of the coin return and moved on. Aunt Alexis even really put money into the driving game for him. Here he is playing:

He was more interested in the button that lit up than the actual game. Although if you check out the one shot, the car is on the road! Pretty impressive.

When we got home we had cake again. Caden loved it when we sang to him. Check out the face:

He even tried to blow out his candles.

Mommy and Daddy gave him one more present to open. A book to read at bedtime.

Caden started reading it right away.
