The Holidays

It seems like it was just yesterday that the little guy was born. He is already over 9 weeks old!

We had a great Thanksgiving. Caden did a wonderful job traveling to Toledo. He slept pretty much for the majority of the trip. Since we had to stop for me to feed him a little bit of time was added to the trip, but not much. We were all snug in the Pacifica. Ryan, Danny, Grandma, Caden, and I all made the trek. I'm sure Grandma was happy to go home after staying her for a little over two weeks. She will be coming back again at the end of January.

I think the family liked Caden... of course they did. He is too cute not to want to hug him to pieces. We spent Thanksgiving day at my grandma's house. Everything was great. It was great seeing the family.

The next day we went to my Dad and Andrea's for lunch. They had a feast for us. We all ate so much that I actually felt nauseous. After we were done eating we went to visit my Grandpa, Aunt Diane, JJ, and Jim. We had a nice visit. I just wish we would have been able to stay a little longer, but Caden pretty much dictates when and where we go. We ended up leaving earlier than I wanted because Caden got fussy.

Caden and I may be going back to Toledo at the end of January. I would rather pick Grandma up instead of her taking the bus. We will wait to see how the weather is to determine if we will be driving there. I would like Caden to get to see the family again.

Christmas was wonderful this year. Caden was spoiled rotten with all of his gifts. I'm sure he will be playing with them before we know it. He got quite a few books, some cute outfits, and of course a lot of toys. They are adorable. I will have to post some pics later.

Ryan had a great Christmas too. He got a beer making kit and a wine making kit. He is pretty excited. He will have to talk to Uncle Johnny about making beer. We are asking everyone to save their bottles.

I think I received the most unique gift this year. Ryan got me a mushroom growing kit. All I have to do is add water to it. I am pretty excited. It will be half portobellos and half button mushrooms. Since I also received an immersion blender from my Dad and Andrea, I plan to make cream of mushroom soup in the future. Yum!

I am also really excited because Pam and Dick got me a Cricut Create. Since I am scrapbooking, I know I will be using this all of the time. I have already started Caden's scrapbook, and this will only make it better.

I was on my friend Jessica Schim Turner's blog, and she wrote about this great idea. She is creating a 365 Project album. You basically take a picture a day and then you have photos chronicling an entire year. I think it will be great to look back at our first entire year with Caden. I will need to really keep up with that obviously. With as great as I am with this blog, I am a little worried!

Tomorrow is New Year's Eve. We plan to have some friends over, so it should be a good time! I need to work on my New Year's resolution list. I think I should add keeping up with this blog to the list!

Caden is here!

Caden Arrives

Hello everyone!

Well, as almost everyone knows, little Caden has joined our family. He was born Saturday, October 25th at 1:32 am. He was 8 lbs and 10.8 ounces. He was a little bigger than we thought he would be, so I ended up not being able to push out the little bugger. The next pregnancy will be a lot smoother since it will have to be a planned C-section. My doctor said she will deliver 10 days before my due date. That's not joining to be for a few years, so we won't worry about it now.

Ryan and I are so happy that Caden is with us now. It is already hard to remember when he wasn't here. Life definitely has changed, but in a good way. We are very lucky as far as sleep is going. He usually only gets us up twice a night. He eats and then he goes right back to sleep. He has also been sleeping in his crib in his nursery since day one. I wake up with him so Ryan can sleep since he needs to go to work. The first week and a half Ryan had to get up everytime because I couldn't from the C-section. I felt bad, but I wasn't able to get out of bed without a ton of effort and pain. Ryan was a trooper and never complained. Although I do think there were a couple of times he brought Caden to me and he was half asleep.

We call Caden our little turtle because whenever he is hungry he looks like a little snapping turtle. It is pretty cute when he does it. He does love to eat.

He is as healthy as a horse. At his first check with his pediatrician, he was already up to 9 lbs. This appointment was November 5th. He didn't have to go before that because he was not jaundice at all. His appointment went very well. The nurse said she wished she had more patients like Caden since he is so healthy. He is at the 70th or 90th percentile for everything. They said we are going to have a big boy.

House Guests

Caden is already used to being passed around. He has had quite a few house guests. My mom came and stayed with us from the 25th of October until the 1st of November. She had to help a lot during that week since I was so sore from the c-section. It was great to have her here. She brought me almost all of my meals, and she had to help with Caden a lot. I wasn't even able to lift him out or put him into the crib. By the time my mom left I was feeling a lot better.

My dad, Andrea, and Stephanie arrived the night that my mom left. They also helped a lot. Andrea made us a lot of fancy meals, did all of the laundry, and helped clean. It was a pretty relaxing week!

Finally my grandma came to stay with us on Monday, November 10th. She is staying with us and going with us to Toledo for Thanksgiving. She rode the bus to get here. She has been making us all of our favorite meals. It is like having our own cook. She has also been helping with the cleaning. Almost every morning after I feed Caden around 8ish, Grandma comes into the nursery and takes him from me. She tells me to take a nap. I felt guilty at first, but it is kinda nice to get a nap! I don't know what I will do when she isn't here. She will be coming back for about a month when I go back to school. So she is learning where everything is in the house so she will know when she comes back in January.

Pictures of Caden

If you click on the picture of Caden to the right tere is a link to some pics of Caden. I need to put more pictures of him on the website; I plan to have Ryan show me how to do that tonight. We did order our announcements, but we are still waiting for them to arrive. I think they will be here today or tomorrow. I will send them out this week! Keep checking your mailbox!

Data Retreat

Woo hoo! Look at me updating in the same week! Let's see how long I can keep this going.

Today was the last day of school for the seniors. Obviously it will be pretty quiet from this point on in the hallways. I'm sure they will be back next week already visiting. I don't quite understand that. Graduation is this Saturday at 11, and of course I will be attending. I have one graduation party to go to on Sunday as well. It should be fun.

Tomorrow is a day called Data Retreat at our school. It is a day set aside for teachers to examine data. Sounds exciting, huh? Well this year I am lucky enough to have to help plan it. It was royal pain in the butt. It is 25% of my grade for the class I am taking in the masters program. Everyone is pretty nervous about tomorrow, but I'm pretty much at the point where I don't care. If I get a B it isn't the end of the world. I will still get my masters, I will still have my teaching job, life will go on... Not that I like B's, but I'd get over it.

I am looking forward to the three day weekend. We are going to Pam and Dick's on Monday for a boat ride. That should be fun. The weather is supposed to be beautiful. I think around 80 degrees. It's about time!

I will update later. Hopefully I will have something interesting to add after graduation.

Yes...I am alive

Wow...I know it has been a long time since I posted. Just a few things have happened. Where to start... Oh, I'm pregnant and due October 25th. So far, so good. I was pretty nauseous for the first trimester, but I have heard some nasty horror stories and know that I am pretty fortunate. It is all worth it. I figured every time I felt sick I knew everything was okay.

My brother is moving in with us next week. We are looking forward to it. Ryan is excited to have some more help at the office. He is going to train Danny to cut lenses and work as an optician. He thinks he will be the ultimate optician. Every time we cook something we wonder how he will feel having home cooked meals all of the time. Hopefully he will enjoy it. The plan is that my mom is flying to Cincinnati on Sunday to help Danny pack and clean his apartment. He is having one of those podlike storage units sent to Appleton with his things. It was cheaper than renting a Uhaul. They are hoping to arrive in Oshkosh on Tuesday. I think it could end up being Wednesday if they take a detour to Toledo. My mom will be staying with us then until the morning of the 31st. The great part is that my next appointment is on the 30th for my ultrasound, so my mom will be able to come with us and see the baby. Danny kinda hinted that he would like to come too, so he may see he niece for nephew soon.

Next new thing...Ryan and I will be going to Seattle next month with Pam and Dick for the American Optometric Association's conference. Ryan is excited about some of the sessions he will be attending-Pam and I are excited about the shopping. We will be there from Wednesday, June 25th through Monday, June 30th. I think I have those dates correct. It should be a lot of fun.

Another exciting thing is that everyone is pregnant. Allow me to explain... Reed Prust's wife Terra is due October 15th, I am due October 25th, Mindi Sollom is due the week after I am, Stephanie Klyber is due at the beginning of November, and Sara Aulizia is due November 25th. There will be babies everywhere!!! It will be wonderful... a little noisy perhaps, but wonderful.

I think that is it for now. I will update more often so that are not month gaps on here!

Happy Birthday to Me...a little late!

I am really looking forward to dinner tonight. We (Pam, Dick, Chris, Linda, Jay, Andrew, Nicole, Maddie, Ryan, and I) are going to HuHot Mongolian Grill. I love it there! We were supposed to go last Sunday to celebrate my birthday and the end of the musical, but since we got nailed with the snow storm none of us ended up leaving the house.

Tomorrow I have a conference in Appleton from 8 am to 5 pm. It is about mentoring new teachers. I figured it would be a good opportunity for me to stick another feather in my cap. You can never have too many things on your resume just in case. Hopefully I will never leave Ripon though. The best part is the I am getting reimbursed for the registration and they are paying for me to stay the night at the Radisson tomorrow night. Ryan and I are treating it like a mini-vacation. Sassy and Bentley will be staying with Grandma and Grandpa. It will be nice to get away, even if it is only for one night.

We had conferences last night at school until 8 pm. I think I had the record amount of parents at 11. Needless to say, it was along night. Ryan ordered Chinese for dinner, so that was nice treat for when I got home. Gotta love those Crab Rangoons!

I am still hear good things about the musical. The newspaper came out yesterday in Ripon, and no bad press. I am shocked there wasn't a letter to the editor about the song "The American Way." Pleasantly surprised I should say. I got a nice thank you from someone in Sparta, WI who came to see the musical and thought it was great. That was very nice of him to take the time to hand write the thank you. It seems like we don't send those out enough these days.

Ryan has been interviewing at the office for a new medical receptionist. It is always entertaining to hear how the interviews go. I had fun helping him look through the resumes. I felt like I needed to get out a pen to correct their grammar. One person even had the word references misspelled. That resume did not make it to the keeper pile. He knew exactly what he was looking for, and he thinks he may have found her yesterday. We will have to wait and see how today's people pan out.

I checked Weather.com this morning for Ripon and saw that there is already a Weather Advisory for next Monday night into Tuesday. Just what we need...more snow. The snow is so high already that every time Ryan uses the snow thrower it can't get high enough so it just shoots right back down. Sassy of course is loving this. She is in her element. Bentley just seems to enjoy running across the yard and forming perfect X's. I am hoping the forecast is wrong! Mom, you don't need to tell me again that it is cool in Florida too because it got down to 60 degrees. I would be happy for 20 right now!

Danny is still planning to move to Oshkosh in the middle of the summer, maybe July. We are going to start stockpiling food now. Just kidding Danny! We are looking forward to it. No other news about that. I have no other love update about Danny either. Since he is moving out of state I think he has decided to stop pursuing who I was originally talking about. We will just have to find him a nice Wisconsin girl!

Thank you to everyone who sent me the birthday cards. I am still behind in everything, so I haven't sent out any Thank Yous yet. I especially loved the cards that had the music. They always make me laugh. Mindi sent me a really funny one. It had a sound clip from "I Love Lucy."

Now that the musical is done I will try to update more often. No, I didn't forget about adding the pics. I will get there! I promise!

Happy Valentine's Day

Hello! I hope everyone had a great Valentine's Day. Mine was pretty eventful.

It started with the first dress rehearsal. We were supposed to have around 20 people from different retirement homes, but of course the weather didn't cooperate. We got nailed with a storm. Since a lot of the residents are in wheelchairs there were only 4 people in the audience. Whoopee! The kids did okay; I hope they do better tomorrow. We have a school performance at 9 am and the evening one at 7 pm. They have two on Saturday: 2 pm and 7 pm. Then I am freeeee!!!!!!!!!!

Shorty after the dress rehearsal ended I found out that we were getting out of school 2 hours early. The snow that was originally supposed to be north of Ripon ended up moving south. Instead of 2 inches we got 10.1 inches. Oops! There is a strong chance we will have a 2 hour delay tomorrow because of the blowing snow. It is the really powdery kind that easily creates white out conditions. We will still have the school performance, it will just be a little later. Instead of 20-25 minutes to get home, it took me over 50 minutes. It was a scary drive. My hands hurt by the time I finally got home. My friend from school who also lives in Oshkosh turned back and stayed over night at a friend's in Ripon.

Back to Valentine's Day...Ryan surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of flowers when he got home. It was very nice. They are the biggest roses I think I have every seen. Of course we agreed on no gifts, but of course I'm not mad.

I will try to update again soon. After Saturday night I will have a lot more time on my hands!

Happy Belated Birthday, Dad!

I know...I know.... I need to update more often. Things are just so crazy right now. First, I want to wish a happy birthday to my Dad. I did remember to call him, but I still haven't mailed his card! I am horrible.

I am at school right now. It is 6:45 pm, and we are having our dinner break from musical practice. One more week and two days and I will have freedom! I know I will miss it. We are down to the wire now. We ended up having a snow day both last Wednesday and this Wednesday, so that doesn't help. To make up for it we came in last Sunday from 11-4, and we will be here this Sunday from 11-5. Once again, I pretty much live at the school!

I did want to try to upload some pictures to the blog the other day, but Ryan needed to use his computer for business reasons. So you can blame him:-)

Danny called me last week to ask a weird question. He wanted to know if Ryan and I were still open to him moving in with us. For those of you who don't know, Danny almost moved to Chicago to stay with us. His roommate Adam and Adam's girlfriend want to move to Kentucky, so Danny won't have a roommate. His isn't up for trying his luck with a stranger, so he thought he may move in with us. He is going to be looking at school to see which will accept all of his credits. Obviously we said yes. He would be able to stay in our lower level. He would even have his own bathroom. I don't know if he realizes what he's in for! I will make him eat healthy and workout. Moiiaaa aaaahhhh aaaaahhhh. That was supposed to be an evil laugh. Not quite sure how to spell it. The only bad part about him moving in is that he also loves "Star Trek: Next Generation" as Ryan does. I will be forced into constantly hearing them recite lines and quiz one another. There is also this Captain Joh Luc Picard song with which I have images of them syncronize dancing. I will have to keep you updated!

Ryan's Birthday!!!

As everyone knows I'm sure, today is Ryan's 27th birthday. With the approaching winter storm I am not sure what we will be doing. I am pretty sure that I will have to cancel musical practice, so I will be home early. I am hoping the weather will be decent enough to go to Water City Grill. Ryan and I love to go for date night, but we don't get there very often. Those are the plans for tonight.

I was hoping we would do some sort of cake and celebration deal this weekend for his birthday, but he has decided to forgo that this year. I will probably still make a cake because he loves frosting so much...Oh wait... that's me.

We decided not to get each other gifts this year too, but I still got him something. I will post later what it is just in case he reads this. It is not very exciting, but I think he will like it. I tried to find him a gun for the Wii, not the blaster but a hand gun, but you need to order those online. Thankfully the third place I went told me this; it could have been a long night otherwise.

It's about 17 days until the musical and we are not ready. I know we will have enough time, but it still gets me a little stressed. I am not too bad... no twitching eye or anything. I am to the point where whatever happens happens. The kids are having a really good time, and I think that is the important thing. We have a cool new voice altering machine that we are using for the girl who plays the alien Zombina, so that helps a lot. There is still quite a ways to go.

I am still working on the pictures to upload on here. I should take some pics of musical practice to include too. I will hopefully get those up before the weekend.

I hope everyone has a nice week!

A Sad Day in Title Town

Yes, last night was a horrible night. The Packers lost... It will be hard to recover, but I know we will be able to pull through!

If you were wondering what is big in news right now in Wisconsin...that about sums it up. I am sure this will be the number one news story for awhile.

Ryan and I had Pam and Dick, Jay and Linda, Chris, and Alexis over last night to watch the game. Like normal we had way too much food. Even though we lost, it was still a good time.

The schedule this week in Omro is looking pretty good, so Ryan is happy about that. He leaves this Thursday for an Optometric conference in Las Vegas. He is meeting up with Joel. I laughingly reminded him that what happens in Vegas does NOT stay in Vegas! I don't think I have to worry!

I will update later about the musical...aka the event that is making me pull my hair out. Also, I haven't talked with Danny yet about the update, so no new news yet!

Crazy! Crazy! Crazy!

I thought this blogging thing would be easy and that I would have no problem keeping up with it. Man was I wrong! I am going to make an honest effort to keep updating this to stay in better contact with the family.

Life is crazy right now. The second office in Omro opened last week. Everything is going well, but there is a lot of stress still. There have been problems with the computers, things not in when they should have been... at this rate Ryan will have gray hair by the time he is 27 (which is in nine days!).

School is going well. I am working with the kids to be ready for the musical next month. It is going to be February 14th-16th. Happy birthday to me! The musical is called Zombies from the Beyond. It is a very quirky musical. The kids are just driving me nuts right now with their singing. There were a couple days this week when I felt like I was listening to the American Idol reject episode. I am hoping it will all come together.

I am pretty sure the next time Ryan and I will be taking a trip will be for my Spring Break. If things are crazy still at the office I may be taking a solo trip. I think we will be going to Toledo from about the 15th of March until the 19th. I would love to go for a longer time, but there is always so much I need to get done at school.

Our friends Andrew and Nicole had a beautiful baby girl last Saturday morning. Her name is Madeline, Maddie for short. She is so cute. People usually say babies are always cute, but she is especially cute. She looks like a little doll. Ryan will pretty much not put her down whenever we see them. I have decided that when we have a baby I will only see the baby when s/he is feeding, because Ryan will always be holding him/her. It is really cute.

I will try to keep you up-to-date from now on!

Stay tuned for information about Danny's potential love interest... I need to make sure with him that it is okay to share. Do I have you hooked?
