Cara Update

They determined today that Cara's head pain is not caused by a clot, so that is good. The bad thing is that right now they still are not sure what it is. It could be a migraine, but they want to still keep her a little longer to monitor her more. She is still pretty weak. We went to Madison to see her and pick up Dick to bring back home. We are hoping she gets out of the hospital tomorrow, but most importantly, we are hoping that there is a diagnosis. Keep your fingers crossed! Where is Dr. House when you need him?

Cara and Christmas Picture

Cara is in the hospital. She woke this morning with extreme pain in her head. It was so bad she couldn't even open her eyes or talk. She was worried because it was very similar to the pain she had when she was still in college that ended up being a blood clot in her brain. Jordon got her to the hospital, but made sure to call Pam and Dick first. They are in Madison right now. As of now there is no definite diagnosis. They did an MRI, and two spots did show up. They aren't sure though if those are new or are from the clots before. She is in as of now until Monday. Ryan, Caden, and I will be driving to Madison tomorrow to visit and bring Dick back home with us. Please keep Cara in your thoughts and prayers. I will update when I get any new news.

On a good note, we FINALLY took our holiday photo tonight. Danny came over and took it for us. This is the one we ended up using. It is cropped for the card.

I think this one is hilarious. It looks like Ryan is laughing, Caden is terrified, Bentley is vicious, and I am just oblivious. I love it!

Have a good night!

A Recap in Photos

Caden is now so mobile it is unbelievable. He is able to successfully run now without falling...most of the time. Tonight Caden and I had dinner at Red Robin with Grandma. He did a pretty good job, but he got a little restless toward the end. Ryan was at a meeting in Appleton, so it was some Mommy and Caden time after we got home.

I know I have to do some recapping from the last couple of weeks. I will go back to Thanksgiving.

Here are some shots of the boys from Thanksgiving. It was a trick getting all of them on the couch.

Adin, Caden, and Drew

I also wanted a nice family shot.

After dinner we headed to Minnesota. On the 27th we went to Joel and Mindi's to visit with them for a little bit. Here is a shot of Caden with Olivia in costume. Our cute little aliens. We needed to get a pic of them together.

On the 28th we went to Maddie Aulizia's first birthday party. Caden had a pretty good time.

We got a new TV for the living room, which meant we had a large box. Grandpa decided that Caden needed a castle. Here he is playing in it. It is in his playroom. He loves it even more now that Daddy added another window on the side. He thinks it is pretty neat.

He is getting a little more hair. Here is a funny hair bath shot.

We went to get our Christmas tree on the 6th. Here is Caden helping to pick out a tree. He put a lot of thought into it, and we found a winner!

Caden decided the best gift we could give anyone is...him! He tried to pack himself up in a box to send out.

The next shots are from our Snow Day on the 9th. Needless to say, Caden was NOT a fan. I love these pictures. I have to include them all!

Have a good week!

I promise to update tomorrow about our Thanksgiving.

Widow's Weekend and Thanksgiving

This last weekend was pretty productive for me. It started on Friday with a very fun Game Night. We played a new game I got, Pictureka. It was so much fun! I didn't win, but I still had a blast playing it. It involved scrambling to find a hidden picture before others did, bidding how many pics you could find, or finding a certain number on your own with the 30 second time constraints. We will definitely be playing that again soon.

Saturday was all about shopping. Since it was opening weekend of the gun deer hunting, there were major craft shows all over. I pretty much finished up my Christmas shopping. I have a few thing left to get, but the majority is purchased and wrapped. One less thing to worry about. Plus I was able to get some pretty nice things this year. I was sad to find out that this will be the last year that Winnebago will have their Holiday House. That is always one of my favorites.

Since Thanksgiving is this Thursday, it will be a short week at school. It should pass by pretty quickly. Then it will be all about the turkey. I am going to brine the turkey this year, so I will be looking up exactly how to do that sometime tonight. Wish me luck! Other than that, Thanksgiving should be pretty relaxed. I plan to work on the cooking tomorrow night on everything that can be made ahead.

After we are done eating, we will be heading to Minnesota. We will do the annual shopping at the Mall of America for Black Friday. Ryan, Caden, and I will be hanging out with the Solloms Friday night. We will then scoot over to Sara and Mike's in Victoria for Maddie's first birthday party at noon on Saturday. After the party we will be heading back to town.

Caden's one year pics will finally be this Sunday. As of now he is bruise free...please keep your fingers crossed. Bruises or not, the pics will be this Sunday. We are doing outdoor shots, so I am hoping it won't be too cold. We will bundle up and have some cute pics of him in his winter hat if need be.

I will leave you with some pictures of Caden. Here is one of him eating spaghetti for the first time. I wasn't brave enough to give him the sauce as well, but he ended up liking the noodles. This was, of course, after he played with them for a good 15 minutes. I kept pulling one noodle and eating it so he could see that the little strings were edible. Eventually he got it. He seemed to like the spaghetti as he couldn't shove enough in his mouth at a time.

He has also taken a liking to his sock monkey cap. He brings it up to us so we will put it on him.

A new favorite toy is a 5 gallon bucket from Menards. He was playing with that for quite awhile. He was dragging it around the island, then pushing it in the living room... Good times!

Baths are also super fun again. While I was running the bath water tonight he crawled upstairs and walked into the bathroom. He then (fully dressed) tried to climb into the bathtub. Too funny! He has gone from one extreme to the other. Here is a cute pic from him in the bathtub last week. Enjoy!

On the Mend

Today I definitely feel better! I still have the bubbly stomach, but it is much better. I just need to very careful what I eat.

Here is the recap of the last two weeks in pics.

On November 3rd I finally got a pic of Caden sticking out his tongue. He does this all of the time, but it was almost impossible to capture.

Saturday, November 7th we went to South Saint Paul for Reed Prust's going away party. The kids all had a great time playing together. We stopped at a playground on the way there. Here are some pics of us playing. It was in the upper 60's that day! Beautiful.

I think Ryan liked the digger even more than Caden!

Wheee!!!!

Sunday, November 8th Caden made the switch to the big boy bath tub. He thinks he is pretty cool.

Notice the strategically placed hippo!

Wednesday, November 11th Caden loved chowing down on hummus. Ryan dipped the pita into the hummus and Caden would lick it off and give it back to Ryan to dip into the hummus again. He's a keeper!

This week should be just as busy as any other week. Tomorrow I have a meeting after school, Wednesday is Alexis' birthday, and... well there are some other things going on that I can't remember right now! :)

One thing I am very proud of is that I have Caden's 365 Album, "365 Days of Caden," caught up through November. It has been quite a bit of work, but it was well worth it. I was excited this week when Jessica put on her blog that Becky Higgins' new 365 Album is available. It is called Project Life. I already ordered mine and can't wait for it to come. I plan to use this album for baby number two. Then it will look different than Caden's, but be just as easy to assemble.

As I get closer to the end of the year I am a little sad that my first 365 Album is ending. I don't know how I will continue it. I know that I picture a day may be a bit of overkill, but at the same time it is nice looking back to see what we've done as a family. A picture a week? Not sure. I will need to think that over.

Here are some cute shots of the little guy from tonight. He was super tired at dinner, so he got pretty upset. Still pretty cute. Pretty mad...but pretty cute.

Bye!

Sick...sick...sick

Don't know what I caught, all I know is that it started as a headache on Wednesday night and had me so sick I couldn't go to work on Friday. H1N1? Perhaps. I just want it to go away at this point. Friday was my low point. I thought I could make it at least a half day at work, but I was so dizzy as I walked to get my phone I realized there was no way I could go in. I didn't leave the bedroom after I made the call to school saying I wasn't going in. My fever broke at 10:30 that morning on a good note.

Saturday was better, but my throat was so sore I could barely swallow anything. Because of this I probably drank a total of 10 ounces combined for Friday and Saturday. I was able to get out of bed and shower. All while this is going on Ryan played single Daddy with Caden. I was able to eat again Saturday, but not as much as normal.

Today was going pretty well until tonight. We didn't go to church this morning. I didn't want to infect anyone with anything. I am thinking of the older members of the congregation. We were still up pretty early. I even ate the pancakes Ryan made. After dinner, which was ham and normal fixin's, I started to get a bubbly stomach. Since then I have popped 4 Tums and have been in and out of the bathroom. I guess that is my body's way of telling me that it is NOT ready to eat normal food yet. I will obey.

I have some cute pics to upload. I had to cancel Caden's one year pics that were supposed to be taken yesterday. Luckily they were already canceled before my body decided to attack itself. Of course the little guy cannot go a week without getting a bruise on his face. This time it is a dandy. I will make sure to post pics tomorrow. I took a nice one showing the new marks. You would think we beat this child. Our only saving grace is that fact that he is so darn happy. I don't think beaten children are that happy.

Night!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

We had a great weekend. We started our Halloween by carving pumpkins in the morning. I thought it would be nice to do one for Caden each year with his name and the year. We got some cools pics. Ryan also did one with a bat and I carved one that has the word "Boo" on it. Here is a nice pic.

Caden was an adorable alien. We ended up taking him to trick or treat at Festival Foods grocery store. We decided to do this because it was supposed to be pretty chilly at night. He seemed to like looking at the people. Here are some pics.

The ride home was pretty funny too seeing Caden in his car seat with the costume.

This is my favorite from the day.

Today was a nice day too. It would have been better if the Packers would have won, but they ended up putting up somewhat of a fight toward the end. Caden was dressed in his Packer garb to cheer them on. I tried to get some pics of him on the stairs, but he wouldn't look at the camera.

Here is a shot Ryan took of him trying to plug the charger back into the computer. He gets so frustrated when it doesn't go in right away. I wonder where he gets his temper...
