Amelia Anne Josephs

Today is a day to celebrate Amelia Anne Josephs. Our wonderful friends Nicole and Andrew Josephs sadly welcomed and said goodbye to their beautiful baby girl Wednesday, June 19th. Her obituary clearly shows how many people love and will miss her in her family, but there are many more of us who will continue to think of her often and support her family.

Always remember to tightly hug your kiddos and give thanks.

Until later,

sleepover success...more Florida planning

The sleepover last night went very well. I think the boys had a GREAT time. Here are the highlights:

They took out a few things :)
Taking a moment to smile before Ryan launches them around again.
Yes, we are fancy at our house. Ties for all of the guys :) Sully brought them.
Here is Lilli waking up the boys this morning.

Caden and Sully had a great time. I am sure we will be having more sleepovers in the future. The boys liked sleeping in Caden's room on the cots we bought. I LOVE them. They collapse so well, and I like that they have a washable sheet, as well. Here is the link to them on Amazon.

They are awesome! I would recommend them to anyone. Plus, at $22.39, that's not too bad. I wanted to get the pink one for Lilli, but it cost twice as much! So we ended up getting two blue ones. No fighting :)

Tonight I will be finishing up laundry, and I will begin to pack for Florida. I am excited to get things in the suitcases. That really cements the fact that we will be leaving soon.

Tomorrow I will let you see the baskets I made for the kiddos for the car ride. They will LOVE them :)

Until later!

back to work and sleep over fun tonight

Yesterday was a lot of fun for the kids. They had a great time getting to play with Maddie, Nolan, Ryne, Sophie, Andrew, and William. They had so much fun that they didn't want to come home. Here are some pics of the kids:
How much fun does this look? Even a slide that goes into a pool!
The slide was pretty fast.
The most effective way to photograph all of the kiddos at the same time :)
There was also some time for sword fighting, of course.
Sara and Mike also got a puppy yesterday. His name is Sully. How cute is he?

I was trying to take a pic of his cute face.

Captain America helped me out with this pic :)
By the time we got home, the evening had pretty much come to an end. I did a load of wash and called it a day.

Today I had to go to work for some seminar planning. We got a lot of planning done. I will be heading back tomorrow and Thursday as well.

Tonight's BIG NEWS is that Caden is having his first friend sleepover. His friend Sully (No, not the puppy. Just the same name) is coming to stay the night. Sully is the son of the wonderful woman Tricia who watches the kiddos on Mondays and Wednesdays during the school year. The boys are great buddies because they both LOVE superhero everything. They will most likely be spending the night in the lower level on the little cots we bought for the kids for overnight trips. I will post pics later. I am planning on lots of giggling and playing tonight.

Until later!

getting things done and tired kiddos

Ryan and I didn't know what to do yesterday being able to sleep in without the kiddos at the house. We were super lazy and slept in until 9:15. It was glorious... It was raining, so Ryan wasn't able to mow the lawn right away. We bummed around the house, got a few things done, and then we headed to the Dockside Tavern for a bite to each for lunch.

The kiddos were still with Uncle Danny and Aunt Samantha, because we had a wedding to attend in New London for one of my colleagues. Hannah Simonson (the new math teacher at my school) and Todd Truesdale were married at 2 pm. It was a pretty wedding. The bride was beautiful.

Uncle Danny made sure to keep us up to date with the kiddos, so here are the photos he sent while they were with him.

This does not look comfortable AT ALL :)
Completely out

Getting spoiled with some cake pops at Target.

We decided to run to Menards after dinner, but the kids didn't quite make it that far:

They didn't even wake up when we transferred them to their beds.
Today we are planning to go over to Grandma and Grandpa's (Ames), because Sara and Mike (and the kids) and Reed and Terra (and the kids) are in town. Cara is also scooting into town with the boys. It is a pretty hot one today, so the kids will probably spend a lot of time in the pool. I will update with pics tomorrow.

Until then!

The Building for Kids Fun and Anniversary Dinner

Ryan and I had a nice anniversary evening. We ended up not doing anything that major. We ate dinner at the Trinity in Fond du Lac, and then ended up doing some shopping at the Dollar Store and Target. I think I found enough for the kids' baskets for the trip to Florida. I know...exciting, right? Ryan also took a pic of this and sent it to my brother with the message, "What do you think? Clappy hands, harmonicas, or recorders for the car ride? O heck, we'll just get them all!"

We didn't get any of them :) We came home and finally got caught up with the end of the season of Once Upon a Time. I love that show...

We then just bummed around and did some shopping. Not a big deal, but much more relaxing when you don't have two little ones tagging along to see what you are getting. It was just nice to be together and talk about whatever we wanted. With little ears around, that is not always the case.

While Ryan was at work, the kids and I snagged Maddie and Nathan Josephs, and we headed to the Building for Kids in Appleton. My bro was nice enough to take some time off of work to come along with us. The kids had a great time.  Here are some pics:

Thumbs up for the Building for Kids!!!
Caden is working on making sure the firetruck will properly function.
Goofy girl!
Looking for animals.
Just looks crazy.
The  artists working on their masterpieces. Not Caden. He wasn't in the mood to paint. Stinker.
We had a great time! The kids told me they all want to go again soon. I think we can manage that :)

10 Year Anniversary and Dance Class Results

First, I have to share that Ryan and I are celebrating our 10 year anniversary today. It is hard to believe that much time has passed. I won't get all mushy, because he would HATE that, but I will say that I am very grateful for him, the children he has given me, and the life he provides for us. I couldn't ask for more.

In celebration of our anniversary, Danny and Samantha are taking the kiddos overnight. We plan to have a nice dinner out and time to just focus on us :)

Here's a little flashback:

Here's a recap of Lilli's first dance class last night. She was so excited that she wanted to get dressed two hours before the class...including her shoes. Here she is posing:

The reason behind her goofy expression is that she kept closing her eyes right when the picture would take. I told her to keep her eyes open. This also meant that her mouth had to be open :)

She was fine until the girls all got their batons and everyone started slamming them on the ground. It was really loud, and she freaked out. She ran to me. Most of the rest of the class she was on my lap watching the girls. Luckily Caden was there to take some pics with the camera :) Not always my best angle...

Here are some pics:

Has the baton, but appears to be a little unsure.

Right before one of the teachers instructs the girls to hit the batons on the ground and bounce.
She seemed to like the pom poms, but she didn't want to go back to the girls at this point.

This is one of those "flattering" pics :)

She is back on the mat with the other girls, but not too happy. The woman next to me said, "She may be sad, but look at that cute little face."
I have to say, all in all, I was most impressed with Caden's camera skills for the first class. I had prepared myself for Lilli to not just love it right away. It was just so cute watching Caden take the pics and encouraging her to participate. At one point, he even went to the end of the mat and said, "Do a somersault to me, Lilli." Here he is waiting for her at the end of the mat:

She won't have class next because we will be in Florida (plus there is no class anyway because of the 4th of July), and she is willing to go again. She told me, "Next time don't look at me." I asked her if she didn't want me to be in the room with her, and she said, "No, I don't." We shall see...

Until later!

Florida Planning and Dance Class

As I type this, Caden is next to me snuggling and watching Sesame Street:

Such a cutie!
Lilli is still sleeping :)

We will be leaving for Florida in one week. Did I mention we are driving? Yep, we are. Although last time I drove to Florida I said I would NEVER drive to Florida again, when you are faced with the cost of four airline reconsider. We also want to hit Disney Magic Kingdom, so looking at all of the costs pointed to driving. We are planning to leave next Thursday after Ryan finishes with work. We are incredibly lucky that Danny and Samantha decided to go with us. Who wouldn't want to be in a minivan for a day with us? :) They are gluttons for punishment. It will be nice to have the company and the extra drivers. Because we are leaving in one week, that means I have a lot of work to do.

Yesterday was a start to the preparations by getting the minivan in for the check engine light. We were unbelievably lucky, because we took it in with 700 miles left on the warranty. I won't bore you with the details of what was wrong, but the repairs cost us nothing. Had the warranty not been in place, the trip to the shop would have been $2000! All I had to pay for was the oil change. Nice! They even washed it.

This weekend I plan to put together some Disney buckets for the kids. I will let them have them in the van on the way. I figure it will help to keep them entertained. I have been scouring Pinterest for ideas.  Here is one that I may use as a model (without the balloon):

How cute are these!
I plan to get the items for the buckets this weekend. I will most likely hit up the Dollar Store. I am always surprised by how much they have. I am thinking coloring books, crayons, books to read... That sort of thing. I also like the water bottle idea because Disney allows you to carry those in. The kids could have those for in the park. I will have to wait and see what I can find. I will update with pics when I finish.

The other big thing we have going on in the Ames household is Lilli starting dance class tonight. She is in a combination class, so they will do a little bit of everything. She is SO excited. I even bought her little ballet shoes. She can't wait. I hope that enthusiasm lasts. I will take plenty of pics tonight of her first class. I think I may be more excited than she is :)

Until later!

Happy Summer

It is hard to believe that the summer is already here...but it is. I am more than excited to get all of the extra time with my little kiddos. Who honestly are not that little anymore. As I type, Lilli is walking around in Caden's Buzz Lightyear pjs and her bike helmet:
I'm not quite sure why she decided she needed her stomach showing in the pic :)
They are taking turnings riding Caden's scooter around the house:

He is such a ham. Did you know that proper scooter footwear is boots?
It is a good morning.

We have been busy so far this summer. We left last Thursday to take Grammy back to Toledo. She visited with us for about a month. We had a great time. We loved seeing all of the family also when we took her back. My favorite thing was when Lilli asked why we dropped Gram off at her house. We told her she wanted to go back home. Lilli's response was, "We are done with her?" She is too funny...

We were lucky enough to spend time with Aunt Christy (as the kids call her) and Uncle Johnny because we stayed at their Bed and Breakfast :) We got to see Aunt Diane, Jim, JJ, and Grandpa at Bob Evan's for lunch on Friday. The kids were also happy that Amma and Ampa joined us for lunch and then headed to the park with us. Saturday morning we headed to the Toledo Zoo with Aunt Ann and Grammy. Caden was a little warm, but we had a great time. We then spent some more time with Amma and Ampa, and then we met Aunt Theresa Berry and Uncle Bob for dinner at Red Robin. We ended the trip with breakfast with Ampa, Amma, and Stephanie on Sunday morning for Father's Day before we headed back to Wisconsin. Whew! That was a lot. I am tired just typing it!

I will update with pics from the Toledo trip when I get pics from my bro. My phone was full (as always), so I wasn't able to take pics. He got some super cute ones at the zoo.

Yesterday was a beautiful day, so the kids and I spent time at Bay Beach with Andrew and William. The weather was perfect for it. It was sweatershirt weather in the shade, but it was perfect in the sun. The kids LOVED the rides. I can't wait to go back with Ryan. Here are a couple of pics:

Lilli looks so old in this pic!
Caden loves wearing his big boy hat. I think he also thought he was a big kid because he got to ride on the carousel by himself.
It was has been a great summer so far. I look forward to many other great days!

Take care,
