Young OD of the Year

It has been so hard keeping it a secret from Ryan that he is Young OD of the Year in Wisconsin. We have known now for a few weeks, but we couldn't tell him. Whew! I am glad he knows. We had a great weekend in the Dells for the Optometric Convention. It was an extra long weekend for me since I took my personal day on Friday so that I would be able to see Ryan get his award. It was worth it. Here are some pics from when he got it:

The rest of the weekend consisted of lots of shopping. It was great. It was nice too because Caden got to spend quite a bit of time with his cousin Drew and Aunt Cara.

Of course he tried out the water park. Since we were out and about so much he didn't play there until today. I wanted to go yesterday, but his afternoon nap was later than usual, so it didn't work out to go after that. But here are some cute pics of him in the water.

Cara discovered that the Lazy River had the magical power to knock out Drew each time!

Caden also discovered that he likes crawling into a packed suitcase. Here as a shot:

He climbed in there completely on his own. He also pulled his night light out of the suitcase, and then he crawled over to an outlet and tried to plug it in. He is a smarty!

He also took nine steps in a row. He made it four and started to almost fall, but he stopped and got his balance and then took five more steps! It will be any time now. Still need to do some more baby proofing.

Since today was the first day that really felt fall-like to me, I decided to put out all of my Halloween and Fall decor. I love it! We will all be putting out the Christmas items before we know it!

Lots of new things

It seems like a lot has happened since the last post! It was a busy week. Last Saturday Caden used a straw for the first time. He just suddenly got it! Now that's really all that he wants to use. He gets pretty excited. The only problem is that when we go to a restaurant he thinks he needs to drink out a cup like we do with the big straw.

Caden also got his big boy car seat on Sunday. Here he is taking a snooze in it.

He really likes it. He usually smiles and flaps his arms a little bit when we put him into it. I went back and forth about what car seat to get, but I finally decided on the Britax Boulevard. I think it is going to work very well for the little man.

The other really big news is that Caden took his first three steps Sunday morning before church. He was standing by my jewelry box, which we don't allow, so I called him over to me. He just turned and took three steps over to me. Ryan and I both were there to see it. It won't be long before he is running all over the place.

The rest of the week has flown. Ryan and Dick headed to the Dells last night for the WOA convention. We will be joining them tomorrow for the weekend. I see floating in the Lazy River in the future for Caden and me. I am hoping the convention won't be too boring. :)

Here are a couple other cute pics from the week.

Here is today's picture of the day.

No, Caden is not in it. I am calling it: Caden was here!

Have a good rest of the week!

Update Time!

We had a very nice weekend. We headed to Madison on Friday and met Cara, Jordon, and Drew for dinner at a sit down Chinese restaurant. It was very nice. After that we all headed to the hotel to jump into the pool. I could have handled the pool a little warmer, but it wasn't bad. The kids seemed to have a good time too. Here are some pics.

Grandma spending time with her boys.

I like this one of Caden chilling by the hot tub. Don't worry, I didn't put him in it. He just got to dip his little feet in it.

The next day Ryan and Dick had to be at their class from 8:45 until 4. Jordon went hunting, so Pam, Cara, Drew, Caden, and I hit the town. We first had to make a pit stop at the Bavaria Sausage Co. so I could pick up some pretzel rolls for some friends at school.

Then we went to the Farmer's Market. It was very nice. The weather was a little too warm in the sun, but it in the shade it was perfect. We discovered that Caden LOVES kettle corn.

Caden is now standing on his own. Ryan timed him today, and he lasted over a minute. The walking is coming. Here is a nice standing pic.

He also is loving his Build A Bear turtle's glasses. He thinks he is pretty cool when he wears them.

Silly boy!

Here we go again!

So the school year starts, and of course I get behind with my posting again. What's new? I will try very hard to not let it go more than two days in a row.

School is off to a good start. I think my classes this year are pretty good. No complaints at the moment besides class size.

Grandma went back to Toledo on Monday. Aunt Chris and Uncle Johnny came for Labor Day, and then they brought Grandma back to Ohio. It was a fun weekend. They got here early Saturday evening and stayed until Monday morning. We had a lot of fun. We went on a boat ride on Sunday. Here are some of the pics:

He didn't like the life jacket at all!

This one below is my absolute favorite. H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S!

That night we came home and played Cranium. It was guys against girls. The girls were able to pull out a win because of Grandma. And she thought we would be of no use to us! She was awesome.

Here are some other pics from the visit:

This weekend we are going to Madison again. Ryan and Dick have a continuing ed. thing on Saturday, so the girls with babies in tow will be heading to the farmer's market. I am excited since I have never been there.

I was delinquent about mailing out the Grandparents Day cards from Caden. They aren't getting in the mail until tomorrow AM, so they won't get them until Monday probably. Oh well. Caden even created some art work. Here he is working:

Ryan then decided Caden needed some war paint. Too funny!

I am going to go for now. I will give you the details tomorrow about Caden's first day with Kelly. He did very well!

Sippy Cup and the First Day of School

Caden finally was able to drink out of a sippy cup yesterday!!! I was so excited. I put some of the yogurt juice in it. I figured something sweet might make him more willing to drink out of it. I still need to work on the holding of the sippy cup, but we've made progress! This will mean no more bottle, which is great since he rips the nipple out of the bottle. Here is a pick of him with the sippy.

I continued to try to get things done yesterday. I was able to run to my class to get the information I needed off of my computer to print the items I will needed

I also sorted through Caden's clothing to take out all of the 6-9 month clothing. I replaced it with his 12 month clothes. I am sad that they fit him already. :(

Yes, school started today. It should be an interesting year. Class sizes are definitely up. I have one of my classes at 28, one at 27, and my class with all of the English Language Learners (used to be English as a Second Language) has 30 students in it!!! Luckily one was absent, because I didn't have enough chairs, let alone work space for them. Hopefully guidance can do some shifting still.

Grandma also showed me a new trick of Caden's today when I got home. He is able to walk with the shopping cart now. Before he would kind of push it while on his knees. Too cute! I will post a video of this in the next couple of days.

He got his first taste of pizza today. He ate two crusts. He loved them!

Here is also a pic of Caden working on his stair climbing skills:
