{Crafty Sunday returns!!!}

I think I did more crafty activities today than I have in the last month. Here's a little recap, but I guess it really goes back to yesterday. Last night I finished up the kids' Quiet Bags for church. Sunday school is only one Sunday a month during the summer, so we need something to keep them occupied during the service. Shockingly, the sermon alone does not keep them entertained :) I headed to Joann Fabrics to pick out some fabric to make them each a new drawstring bag. Check out the fabric I chose for Lilli's bag:

Caden's is a Star Wars pattern:

I went to Target and found some odds and ends to put into the bags. I got them each a new box of crayons, a coloring book, a card game, and then a couple little, quiet toys. The rule is that they are only allowed to play with these toys while we are at church. Here are some pics of the final products:
They were a hit today.

I had leftover fabric after I made the bags, so I needed to come up with something else to make. I ended up making Lilli a dress using one of her plain white tank tops. Not too bad:
She LOVES it. It is not perfect at all, but she is thrilled with it.

I decided to make Caden a new apron. He really likes that it has a pocket in the front:

I ended up having to redo the neck part, because that kid has a pretty big melon :) I felt like I was an 11 year old again making a scrunchie.

The other thing I made today before I started sewing was a pin cushion ring. I saw one on Pinterest, so I decided to make one myself. Take a look:
It was so handy to have. I just bought a clearance pack of felt balls, the ring base, and some adhesive. That's it! Easy-peasy :)
Until later!

{Crafty Sunday: another Ninja Turtle}

Over the weekend I finished up crocheting another Ninja Turtle. I guess that was my Crafty Sunday last week :) This time I made Michelangelo. Caden's buddy Sully (Tricia's son) loved the Tigey I made for Lilli, and then I made a rabbit for his sister's birthday. I have been promising him I would make him a Ninja Turtle like Caden, but I've just been so busy. When Ryan left for the 10 days I really didn't have extra time. I put in the time this past weekend, and I was finally able to deliver the turtle to him on Monday. I should have taken a pic when I gave it to him. It was too cute. Here are just a couple of shots I took quickly after I finished the turtle:

How cute is he? Now Lilli wants one :) Always something new to make!

{Crafty Sunday= cookies}

Craft Club at my school sold cookies for St. Patrick's Day as a fundraiser, so yours truly baked the cookies this weekend. I did it in steps, so it wasn't too bad. I needed to make 80 for the sale, so I ended up making two batches. That ended up making around 120 shamrock-shaped cookies. I made the dough Thursday night. I baked 35 of them yesterday morning, and then I baked the rest last night. I frosted them all this morning, and then I bagged them this evening after the frosting had some time to harden. Here is a shot of our dining room table with the cookies:
 I am planning to freeze 20 of the cookies that I didn't frost. Then I can pull them out of the freezer a few at a time.

Yes, they took some time, but I still had time for these goofballs:
We even had some time to be silly:
I love how sweet his face looks in this pic:

{Crafty Sunday: Crochet Bunny}

Because my back is still hurting me (boo), I did quite a bit of crocheting today. Doing things in a seated position is a good thing. Here is the pile of bunny body parts I have finished:
I did some of them previous to this weekend and also yesterday. I am following this free pattern from Michaels' website. I am hoping to have it finished by Tuesday. Not sure about this goal at this point. It is for the daughter of Tricia (the lovely lady who watches our kiddos). Ruby's birthday is this month, and after she saw the Tigey I made for Lilli, she let me know that she would LOVE a crocheted bunny. I remembered :)

The other thing I did today was work on this week's Project Life layout. I finished my sketch of the layout, and then I altered the included pics and sent them to Walgreens to be printed. Check!
I have to share some pics of the kiddos from today. Here is Caden playing with one of the new garbage cans I got for my scrapping room. Yes, you read that correctly. He played with it:
Can you see his hands poked out in the left picture?
And because my back was still hurting today, Lilli and Dada ran to do the grocery shopping. Lilli found out that shopping with Dada has its rewards:

Did you do anything crafty today?

{Crafty Sunday: not a lot of crafting}

Today I didn't get a lot of crafting done, but I'm okay with that. Instead, we spent some time as a family at the library. Caden's school has pics there on display this month, as I mentioned earlier in the week, so he wanted to show Mama and Dada his pics. The other great thing was that we ran into Caden's buddy Soren, who was in his class last year. He had just asked about having a play date with him about a week ago. We stayed a little longer than we originally planned to give the boys a little more time to play:
I also did not complete this week's spread for Project Life yet. gulp! I hope I can get that together before Tuesday :) I guess it was a busier week than I thought!

Until later!

{Crafty Sunday: Scrapbook Catch-up}

Every Sunday it is my goal to do at least one crafty thing. That's why I decided to call it Crafty Sunday :)

The crafty thing I did today was work on some scrapping. I first finished this week's spread for Project Life, which you will see on Tuesday, and then I started working toward my goal of getting the kids' scrapbooks leading up to this year caught up. I started with Lilli's. I had most of her first year's scrapbook finished, but it wasn't quite there:
This is the cover of the album.
In fact, there is A LOT to add to it. I decided the easiest way to do this would be to go through the pics on my computer and decide how many pages I would be doing. I sketched out each page (very roughly) and sorted the pics into a separate folder in iPhoto. Today I was able to sketch out all of the needed layouts for this album. Here is a shot of what my sketches look like:
I also put the page protectors into the album right away. Because I was already printing pics for Project Life, I also printed some of the pics for this album. Those I printed I put in the page protector with a label with the date. I think this will help to speed up the process:
I also was able to get a couple of pages done. Here they are:

Nothing too fancy. My goal is to do two pages a night during the week. I know this may be entirely unrealistic, and I accept that I may need to modify this.

{Crafty Sunday: Finished Ninja Turtle + Cold Days Ahead!}

Every Sunday it is my goal to do at least one crafty thing. That's why I decided to call it Crafty Sunday :) I decided to start posting what I do on Crafty Sunday on Sunday instead of Monday. Not sure why I didn't do that from the beginning...

I found out already today that I will not have school the next two days. Now we will have to make up one of the days in June. The forecast is going to be -40 degrees F including windchill. Even colder on Tuesday. I am very happy that I did my grocery shopping yesterday, so we will not really need to go out if we do not want to.

Today the kids and I played around in my scrapping room. I worked on this week's Project Life spread and I also managed to do a few other crafty things. I finished the turtle today! Yay! Here are some shots:

Caden LOVES it:

The kids got in on the crafting today as well:
To be truthful, Caden didn't last too long. He lost interest. Lilli liked it though :)

I also made Ryan's birthday card tonight, but I can't show that to you yet or he will see it. I can post that pic later this week.

We ended the night with watching "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang." We didn't finish watching it before, but we started it over so Dada could see it. It really is a cute movie. This is Lilli's favorite song:

Caden said he wants to buy the CD so we can listen to the music. Lilli didn't quite make it to the end of the movie:

{Crafty Sunday: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle}

Every Sunday it is my goal to do at least one crafty thing. That's why I decided to call it Crafty Sunday :) This Sunday I worked on last week's Project Life (stayed tuned tomorrow), but I also started a new crocheting project. After creating Lilli's Tigey, Caden wanted me to make something for him. He chose a Ninja Turtle. I started working on this last night while watching "The Big Bang Theory" after the kiddos went to bed. I LOVE the way this pattern is written. The body is crocheted right onto the legs, so there will not be as much sewing and piecing together of body parts. That is always good. I was able to get the legs, body, and part of the head finished:

I think it already looks pretty cute :)

I bought this pattern on Etsy. Here is a link to the pattern if you are interested.

Stay crafty!

{Crafty Sunday: Tigey, the adventure tiger}

Every Sunday it is my goal to do at least one crafty thing. That's why I decided to call it Crafty Sunday :) This Sunday I worked on last week's Project Life (stayed tuned tomorrow), but I also finished off something I started earlier in the week: a crocheted Tigey the adventure tiger from "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood." Lilli LOVES this show. I love it as well, because I watched Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood growing up. This is an animated spin-off from the original show. Here is a little clip you can check out if you have never seen the show.

I found this pattern on Etsy from the Baby Keeper. I am not sure if it still available. I was able to crochet all of the body parts Monday and Tuesday of last week. The bulk of the time is really spent sewing the thing together. There was definitely some trial and error there. Luckily I was also able to get quite a bit of it done Saturday and Sunday in the car while Alexis drove to and from Wizard Quest. Here was a shot I took when I finished off his head:

And here is the finished product:

check out the little claws
Lilli was sooooo excited when she saw I was making this for her. She was asking to hold him before I even finished him.

Is he perfect? Nope. Are there quite a few mistakes? Yep. Does she love him? Absolutely...

Until later!
