On our way!
Just a quick update to say we are on our way to Myrtle Beach! We left around 8:15 pm.

Not Quite Ready for Big Boy Food
Today Ryan and I took Caden to Red Robin for lunch. Ryan had a pretty big break between seeing patients in Appleton and Omro. We thought we would try ordering for Caden off of the children's menu. Of course we ordered Mac and Cheese. At first he seemed to really like it. Then all of a sudden his was done. I would guess he ate around 10 pieces of pasta. We brought the rest home. We aren't really sure if he didn't like it that much, or if he just wasn't really that hungry. Of well, we will try again sometime soon. He did enjoy playing with the menu. Here are some pics:
The rest of the afternoon I continued to work on the birthday invitations. I did make some progress. Not quite enough to show you, but I am hoping I will get a little bit more done tomorrow before we leave. If I do, I will post some pics.
This evening Pam and I went to Alexis' house for an Arbonne party. It was fun. I bought some really cool things. I am excited to get them. I will have to wait until we get back from vacation.
I am going to finish my list of things to pack. We plan to be on the road tomorrow around 8:30 pm. So I will load the car and finish packing before then. It should be fun. I am going to try to update the blog as often as I can while we are gone. I am assuming we will have internet access. If not, I will see if there is a way for me to update using my Iphone.

Caden's birthday invitations
Today Pam and I went to a cute scrapbook store in Fond du Lac called The Scrapbook Cottage. They have some nice paper and some cute embellishments that we have never seen at other stores. We then headed to Hobby Lobby so I could get the paper I need to make the invitations to Caden's first birthday party. I know it is still three months away, but I want to take care of making them before I go back to school. I got all of the supplies I need. I started them tonight. I will post a picture of the finished product once I get to that point. I would like to put them together tomorrow, but we will see how that goes.

Caden's cough seems a little better today. He is the worst at night. That is pretty typical with the croup. I was up with him from 4 am until around 5 am. Every time he would fall asleep he would cough, which would wake him up and he would start to cry. Poor little guy. He did well during the day though. Keep your fingers crossed that he is back to normal by Friday. That's my hope!
Ryan is also doing well. The medicine seems to be working. I think both boys should be feeling great by this weekend.
Tomorrow I plan to spend the day preparing for Myrtle Beach. I have to pack, wash a few more things, find my bathing suit (I haven't seen it since Florida, but I remember packing it...), and make my list of things to not forget. I should be pretty busy!

The Croup!
We had an eventful night last night after I updated my blog. Around 11:15 pm I heard a weird noise through Caden's monitor. I wasn't sure what it was, so I poked my head into the room. He was sitting up in the crib and breathing funny. I picked him up and called Ryan into the room. Caden was crying and coughing a very nasty, throaty cough. I didn't feel comfortable putting him back in his crib, so we took him to bed with us. Every time he fell asleep he would have problems breathing, cough, and then wake up again. After around 10 minutes Ryan finally said we could take him to the hospital since he knew all I would do would be to stare at him all night.
Since it is Oshkosh, we didn't wait very long at all in the ER. The doctor who saw Caden said that it was most likely croup. He gave him some oral steroids and told us to use the humidifier. We got home around 12:30. Of course I took a pic with my phone while we were there. This will be his pic for the day.
He was a pretty happy camper until they used the tongue depressor on him. Then they took his temperature three times because the nurse kept grabbing a thermometer with a dead battery. So he wasn't too happy about the three pokes in his little butt.
Ryan seems to be better. Thank goodness! I had two sick boys yesterday! I just hope both are better in time for our trip this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed!

Ryan versus the Sinus Infection/ 365 Album
Well let's hope the Amoxicillin that Ryan is now on will finally rid him of whatever has been ailing him for almost a week now. He is being medicated for a sinus infection, so I guess we will see in a couple of days whether or not that diagnosis is correct. I hope it is.
Tonight Caden ate dinner with us. He ate exactly what we had. I made tuna noodle casserole. I just mashed it up and he loved it! Here are some pics of him chowing down.
I also finally took a few pics of my 365 album I have been promising to post. Here is the cover. I just took a regular three ring album binder and modge podged the words that I cut out with my Cricut onto the cover. I think it looks pretty cute.
Here is what the inside looks like. There is a slot for every day of the week, and then there are journal cards on the bottom. This is based off of Becky Higgins' 365 Project Album. I wasn't fast enough to get the kit, so I modified to work for me. The cards for the days of the week and the journal entries are from Becky's kit, she made them available as PDF files so that those of us who didn't get the kit could still use them. How sweet! I used Ali Edwards' days of the week brushes to stamp the day on the picture. I have to thank Jessica Turner for this great idea! I am really loving this album. I just need to decide what I am going to do once the year is up!

Drew's Baptism
The baptism was very nice today. It was short and sweet. Drew was a very good boy. He looked too cute in the baptismal gown that both Cara and Ryan wore when they were baptized. I was the photographer while Ryan acted as Godfather. Jordon's sister Chanel was the Godmother. Here are some pics.
I also decided that Ryan, Caden, and I needed a pic since we were all spiffed up for the occasion. Here that one is:

We got back to Oshkosh around 4:45 pm. We would have been back a little sooner, but I found a nice scrapbook store. Pam, Dick, Chris, Danny, Sam, Ryan, Caden, and I all had dinner around 7:30 and we called it a night. Actually, before we called it a night Sam and I worked on some Baby Shower invites for a co-worker of hers.

Madison
Today Ryan and I got everything ready to head to Madison for tonight and tomorrow. I had to find an outfit to wear to the baptism, which I did pretty quickly. It was the first one I tried on at JcPenney. We then packed up and headed to Madison around 4 pm. Cara and Jordon had a nice spaghetti dinner for all of the family who were in town already.
Sara and Mike were there with Maddie. Here are some pics of the kids playing. They loved holding themselves up on the coffee table.
After dinner we headed to the hotel. Caden and Maddie hung out in the Pack N Play. Everything was fine until Maddie tackled Caden. Then he pulled her hair... one thing led to the next and we had crying babies. Okay, maybe Maddie didn't start it. I guess a parent always thinks that their child is the innocent one :) They had a good time.

A Night for Mommy
Today was a pretty good day. Ryan is better, I am done teaching for the APPLE Program, and I scrapped from 5-11 pm with a group of women at Gabriel's Villa. We were just using the facility; they are not patients there. It was a fun night. I got quite a bit done. I finally got the page done with everyone holding Caden in the hospital. That took me forever to figure out how to put it together. I'm so happy it is finally done!
I called Kelly last night to tell her that she will be watching Caden for us on Wednesdays if that works for her. After I called all of the references, I decided I like her. They all raved about her. I especially liked talking to the mother of the little boy, Mason, who is currently there. It made me feel that she is the right person. I am relieved I now do not have to worry about that.
As I said before, Ryan is finally better. I don't think he is back to 100%, but he is definitely better. He tried to make up for lost time with Caden today. They went outside and were playing in the grass for awhile. Here is Caden examining a blade of grass. He is a goof ball.
We are heading to Madison to stay the night tomorrow evening. Sunday morning is Drew's baptism. We are staying overnight in case there is any last minute help needed, and also to spend time with Sara, Mike, and Maddie who are driving over from Minnesota for the baptism. It should be a good time!

Caden's 9 month check
Today Caden saw Dr. Johnson for his 9 month check. He is doing very well. Here are a couple of pics from the visit.
The shot is always of him on the table because that is the only angle I can safely get when I take him to his appointments by myself.
Here are the stats:
Weight- 18 lbs. 10 ounces 25th percentile
Height- 29 inches 80th percentile
Head Circumference-46.8 cm 90th percentile
I was surprised that his weight is still only in the 25th percentile, but Dr. Johnson said it is good. He said he is just now following the trend. It would be abnormal for him to suddenly jump from the 25th to the 50th percentile. His height percentile jumped up 5 from the 75th percentile. And his big head has stayed the same percentile wise :)
I asked him about starting Caden on cow's milk at the end of August since I will be going back to school. I would prefer to avoid pumping at school if at all possible. He said that is perfectly safe and okay. I would still breastfeed him before school and then when I get him after I am done for the day. I still have a stock pile to get rid of from the freezer, so he should be set for awhile. I also asked Dr. Johnson for some tips to get Caden to use a sippy cup. He just doesn't like it. He hates the bottle as well. Dr. Johnson said to keep trying. I told him Caden seems to drink better out of a water bottle than he does a sippy cup. He told to go with that if I want. I don't see how to avoid a big mess with that. I will have to just be patient and keep trying the sippy cup with him every day.
Mindi texted me this AM to say that Olivia is out of the hospital. We are all pretty happy about that. She even sent me another pic. Here is little Olivia without an IV.
I did end up getting one page scrapped. Here is how it turned out:
I have a lot more to go before school starts to get Caden's scrapbook caught up! I will take some pics of his 365 Album to show for tomorrow.
I will have more time tonight to scrap since Ryan is still sick! He had a fever of 103.8 degrees. I fed him and put him to bed. I did call the doctor on call at the hospital to see if I should bring him in. He said for him to take two ibuprofen and two Tylenol every six hours until the fever is gone. He agreed with Ryan that it is probably just viral since there are no other symptoms like a sore throat. Needless to say, I didn't let Ryan touch Caden or me at all. Let's hope he is feeling better tomorrow!

Olivia Update and Sick Ryan
The doctors decided to keep Olivia overnight one more time. Mindi is confident that she will be coming home tomorrow AM. She said she is a lot better. She even sent me a pic of Olivia. This was taken after she was given a nebulizer and steroids. Mindi thinks she was pretty "happy" at this point.
In other news, Ryan was pretty sick today. Last night he complained about being physically exhausted, but we didn't think anything of it. He woke up this morning feeling horrible. He said he had cold sweats all night, he had a headache, and he felt nauseous. He made it through the day, but he still felt horrible. He came home right after work and took a nap. He came down at 6:45 to eat dinner (I made chicken soup with dumplings) and then he went right back up to bed. I am hoping he can sleep it off. He was so out when I checked on him at 8:45 that I was able to take his watch off without waking him. As long as both of my boys are sleeping I am going to use this time to work a little more on some scrapping.

Caden the Crawler
I think we can say that today Caden is officially crawling. He did his first short crawl last Friday, but today he started crawling everywhere! I think he realized he can get more places if he doesn't army crawl. He even attempted to climb the stairs! He is a stinker. Here are some pics of him in action.
I didn't get a chance to call the references yet for the sitter. I will do that tomorrow. I don't know where the day went.
As you may have noticed, the blog looks a little different. I have been playing with different templates. It may look different every time you visit until I find one I really like. This one is growing on me.
I also want everyone to keep Olivia in their thoughts. Mindi texted me that she was in the ER with Olivia. She is okay, but they are keeping her over night due to breathing problems. They are treating it right now as early pneumonia. Mindi said she is doing well, and when she last texted me Olivia was sleeping. Pretty scary still. I will keep you updated.

Good News!
The meeting with Kelly went well today. I really liked her. I have to call her references tomorrow, but I think we are going to go with her. She would only have Caden on Wednesdays. She has two little girls of her own. She is currently watching one little boy. One of her daughters is in school, so it would be Caden with the other two kids. Her daughter who will also be at the house is around 4 I think. I'm not too sure how old the little guy is. I would guess around 2. I feel pretty good about her. Keep your fingers crossed!

Home Again!
***I still need to add a few pictures. The batteries on my little camera died, and I can't find the charger! Grrr....
Caden is now certainly a world traveler. In the last few weeks, he has traveled to: Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. I don't think I missed any states. I feel that I should list both Indiana and Georgia multiple times since those states take forever to get out of! We had a wonderful time in Florida. Before I describe that trip, I need to go back in time a little.
The last time I posted was after Pam's retirement party, so I will back it up to right after that. The week of June 15th was pretty busy. It was also the first official week of summer break for me. I had a training at school on Tuesday and Wednesday all day, so it wasn't a completely carefree summer break week. Caden is now army crawling everywhere. Here he is in action with his monkey butt pants:
Caden, Pam, Sheri (my friend from school) and I headed to Appleton on that Friday to make the rounds at the scrapbook stores. We stopped at Olive Garden for lunch. Caden tried a breadstick. He liked it!
That Saturday was Stephanie's baby shower. It was very nice. I wasn't thinking and didn't bring a camera. I will see if I can snag some from Cara. After the shower Ryan and I took Caden to Little Oshkosh to see if he would like the playground. He seemed to like it very much.
That night was our 10 year class reunion at Fratello's. It was nice getting to see everyone. I spent a lot of time with Alexis (of course) and Nicole Borsuk (who lives in Atlanta now) and Ellie Blades (who lives in Minneapolis). Here are some pics of them and some other random ones that we took. We had a great time. I am already looking forward to our 20 year...Actually I can wait for it. It was depressing enough to realize that we graduated 10 years ago! Wow!
The week of the 22nd I had summer school from 8-12 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. On Wednesday, Linda, Pam, Caden, and I headed to Fuddrucker's for some burgers. Here is Caden enjoying his lunch, too.
Thursday night we headed to Minnesota. We went for the weekend because Sara Aulizia graduated from Augsburg with her MBA. We made it a double trip by staying with Joel and Mindi instead of a hotel. We then were able to spend some quality time with them and the girls. We stayed until Sunday. The ceremony was on Sunday and was very nice. The graduates were all hooded before the ceremony, which I had never seem before. The entered from across the street while a video camera showed them. It felt like we were at Hogwarts or something. Here are some other pics of the kids. We went to a beach park on Friday, so we took a lot of pics there.
The week of June 29th was all about getting ready for Florida. We left Wednesday when the guys were done with work. We drove straight through and switched drivers every two hours. It was a long trip! Here are some pics from the way there.
Once we got there it was pretty relaxing. Here are some pics of playing in the pool.
Saturday night was my mom's party. It was really funny because it was a surprise. Her friend Latricia told her that it was a 4th of July party. Mom was tired, so she told me she didn't really want to go. She wanted to just stay home. I just told her we could pop in, grab a bite, and then head home. She was REALLY surprised. I think she cried for two hours. It was fun. Here are a bunch of pics from the party.
The week of July 6th we did a lot. Sam flew in on the 3rd, and she had never been to Florida. We tried to get in as much for her as possible. We went to Clearwater Beach, Dunedin, Honeymoon Beach, Ygor City where we went on a WWII boat, and Tarpon Springs. Yes, we did all of that before Sam left on Tuesday. Here are some pics from the various places.
That Wednesday we spent the day in the pool. It was a nice relaxing day. Our last full day there was Thursday. We went to the Tampa Holocaust museum. There were no photos allowed, so I can only show what the sign on the outside looked like. It was a nice museum, depressing of course, but nice.
We left then on Friday, July 10th. That was Dick's birthday. Happy Birthday...why not drive in the van forever? It took us longer to get home. There were a couple of traffic jams in a couple of states. The ride back seemed shorter though. It wasn't too bad. Here are some pics. So we got home early Saturday evening.
Sunday we celebrated Dick and Cara's birthdays. Cara's is the 13th of July. We had tenderloin and salmon on the grill. I made the cake from hell. It was good..that's not the problem. The mold was the problem. It was one of those large cupcake molds. It was a pain because it takes forever to cook. The bottom took around 75 minutes, and the top took almost an hour as well. It was pretty cute though. I guess I will have to use the mold again when I have Caden's first birthday party. Believe it or not, that will be in around three months!
Last week I starting teaching for the APPLE program through the Precollege Program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. APPLE stands for Aspiring Pupils for Professional Leadership in Education. There are 15 8th-10th graders who I am teaching a computer class for. The first week I went through the Office 2007 software. Next week I am showing them how to create and operate their own blog. The kids are very excited about this. Don't worry... I am going to show them how to password protect their blog. I am also going to go through Internet safety with them. I am having a pretty good time with the kids. It is only from 3-4 in the afternoon. This week will be the last week. The last day is only an awards luncheon on Friday, so it should be a pretty easy week.
Tomorrow I am meeting with a woman named Kelly who may be watching Caden on Wednesdays for me. I am meeting with her to see the house, check her references, blah blah blah. I am excited to meet her. I hope I like her a lot. I plan to pick Caden up after the APPLE class and buzz over to meet her at 5 pm. I will update tomorrow night to give you the results.

Caden is now certainly a world traveler. In the last few weeks, he has traveled to: Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida. I don't think I missed any states. I feel that I should list both Indiana and Georgia multiple times since those states take forever to get out of! We had a wonderful time in Florida. Before I describe that trip, I need to go back in time a little.
The last time I posted was after Pam's retirement party, so I will back it up to right after that. The week of June 15th was pretty busy. It was also the first official week of summer break for me. I had a training at school on Tuesday and Wednesday all day, so it wasn't a completely carefree summer break week. Caden is now army crawling everywhere. Here he is in action with his monkey butt pants:
Caden, Pam, Sheri (my friend from school) and I headed to Appleton on that Friday to make the rounds at the scrapbook stores. We stopped at Olive Garden for lunch. Caden tried a breadstick. He liked it!
That Saturday was Stephanie's baby shower. It was very nice. I wasn't thinking and didn't bring a camera. I will see if I can snag some from Cara. After the shower Ryan and I took Caden to Little Oshkosh to see if he would like the playground. He seemed to like it very much.
That night was our 10 year class reunion at Fratello's. It was nice getting to see everyone. I spent a lot of time with Alexis (of course) and Nicole Borsuk (who lives in Atlanta now) and Ellie Blades (who lives in Minneapolis). Here are some pics of them and some other random ones that we took. We had a great time. I am already looking forward to our 20 year...Actually I can wait for it. It was depressing enough to realize that we graduated 10 years ago! Wow!
The week of the 22nd I had summer school from 8-12 Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. On Wednesday, Linda, Pam, Caden, and I headed to Fuddrucker's for some burgers. Here is Caden enjoying his lunch, too.
Thursday night we headed to Minnesota. We went for the weekend because Sara Aulizia graduated from Augsburg with her MBA. We made it a double trip by staying with Joel and Mindi instead of a hotel. We then were able to spend some quality time with them and the girls. We stayed until Sunday. The ceremony was on Sunday and was very nice. The graduates were all hooded before the ceremony, which I had never seem before. The entered from across the street while a video camera showed them. It felt like we were at Hogwarts or something. Here are some other pics of the kids. We went to a beach park on Friday, so we took a lot of pics there.
The week of June 29th was all about getting ready for Florida. We left Wednesday when the guys were done with work. We drove straight through and switched drivers every two hours. It was a long trip! Here are some pics from the way there.

Saturday night was my mom's party. It was really funny because it was a surprise. Her friend Latricia told her that it was a 4th of July party. Mom was tired, so she told me she didn't really want to go. She wanted to just stay home. I just told her we could pop in, grab a bite, and then head home. She was REALLY surprised. I think she cried for two hours. It was fun. Here are a bunch of pics from the party.
The week of July 6th we did a lot. Sam flew in on the 3rd, and she had never been to Florida. We tried to get in as much for her as possible. We went to Clearwater Beach, Dunedin, Honeymoon Beach, Ygor City where we went on a WWII boat, and Tarpon Springs. Yes, we did all of that before Sam left on Tuesday. That Wednesday we spent the day in the pool. It was a nice relaxing day. Our last full day there was Thursday. We went to the Tampa Holocaust museum. There were no photos allowed, so I can only show what the sign on the outside looked like. It was a nice museum, depressing of course, but nice.
We left then on Friday, July 10th. That was Dick's birthday. Happy Birthday...why not drive in the van forever? It took us longer to get home. There were a couple of traffic jams in a couple of states. The ride back seemed shorter though. It wasn't too bad. Here are some pics. So we got home early Saturday evening.
Sunday we celebrated Dick and Cara's birthdays. Cara's is the 13th of July. We had tenderloin and salmon on the grill. I made the cake from hell. It was good..that's not the problem. The mold was the problem. It was one of those large cupcake molds. It was a pain because it takes forever to cook. The bottom took around 75 minutes, and the top took almost an hour as well.
