{Hockey with new fans}

Caden was really excited about hockey tonight, because Andrew and William were there to watch him. Here is Andrew after talking with Caden through the crack:
I thought that was pretty funny.

William had a good time as well. A little snuggling with Grandma:
He also had some time with Lilli showing him around:
Lilli also snagged a pic of the two of us:

I will leave you with a short video of Caden playing Red Light, Green Light:
Until later!

{Caden advances to the next level!}

Tonight was Caden's last hockey session for Spring session 1. He was in Learn to Play Hockey 1, and he advanced to Level 2! Not only did he advance, but he did so with "flying colors." Here is his hockey evaluation sheet:
He was so proud that he already accomplished 3 of the 7 skills for Level 2.

Here he is with Coach Uecker:
Lilli watched as she snacked on some jelly beans:

And I will leave you with a short video clip. You can really see his little skateboarder push off with his right foot in this clip. Enjoy!
Until later!

{Are you ready for some hockey?!}

Today is Monday, so that means (at least for the next two weeks) hockey time! As with last week, again I was able to see that Caden is really improving. He is so much better on his skates and is starting to actually skate and not just walk.

At this point, I am trying to figure out what he wants to do next. He mentioned that he wants to try baseball, but it is the wrong season for that. He also said he may want to stick with hockey for a little longer. Who knows? I just want him to try different things, and I want him to be happy. After today's practice, I think he should stick with hockey a little longer.

Here are some pics from today's practice:
He is the little one next to his coach.
Today they had to skate around obstacles.
There were still some spills.
Made it around those cones :)
Cheering section was still there!
I will leave you with a video from tonight's class. We are so proud of him. His coach even came over to talk with us about how much better Caden is doing. His determination has really paid off!

Until later!

{hockey boy-week four}

Yesterday was the first time I could really see an improvement in Caden's skating. Now that doesn't mean it's perfect skating, because it's not--

But to be fair, that video was right when practice began. He seems to have a little adjustment period always right at the beginning of class. He got better and better as the class progressed. I would have taken more pics, but Lilli was playing on my phone :)

Here is a shot she took of me giving Caden a pep talk--
Actually, he skated over to point out a game system to me that a little boy was playing with in the bleachers :) I am not sure how he noticed that from the ice.

Daddy even bought Lilli some hot chocolate. Here they are cooling it down--

Caden is already looking forward to practice on Thursday.

Until later!

{soccer ends...ice hockey to soon begin}

This past Tuesday was Caden's last day of soccer :( I was back at work, so I had to miss it. Luckily he was fortunate enough to have his Grandma take him. He LOVED soccer. I think it was such a great fit for him because he is so active. He was running all of the time.

This was a video I shot of him at practice from last week:

Here is a picture my mother-in-law sent to me from his last practice. He was so excited to get another medal:
How cute is he?

He also got a little certificate:

Every day we would walk into soccer practice, we would have to walk past the entrance to the ice rink. Every day he would peer in that direction as we past the door. Three weeks ago he started asking about ice hockey. Am I old enough to play it? Can I try it? He's only 4 (5 at the end of October), so I thought the fascination would pass. It didn't. I think of ice hockey and certain images pop into my head. Like this one:

I think it's pretty rough. I worry about Caden getting pushed around...but I know that I shouldn't worry. Because he is so physical, I am sure he will love it. It just seems to be such a "big kid" sport. I guess it's time to realize he isn't so little :) When I told him I signed him up, he was SO excited. We still need to go and get him a helmet because his first class Sept. 9th. I had to make him understand he won't even touch a stick in his lessons. The first session of ice hockey is just getting the kids to be able to skate. Should be fun! I'm thinking Bambi on ice :)

Until later!
